Seacrest Replacing Larry King?

20080508_seacrest_320x240.jpg

MSNBC is reporting Ryan Seacrest may ditch the 500 jobs he currently has to replace Larry King when he retires in 2009. The media veteran told The New York Times Ryan is his pick for the job...with some reservations. “The only thing I don’t know, and I’ve gotten to know him pretty well, is how versed he is in politics, world affairs. Does he read the paper? Is he interested in Iraq? Because if he is, he’s going to be very good.”

We're going to take a gigantic stab in the dark here, but our guess is he reads the paper about as much as we do, which is to say, not at all. He would bring a welcomed lucid change to Live's hosting duties, though, but hard-hitting journalism? We don't see Seacrest going there.
