Acclaimed director, producer and actor Sydney Pollack has passed away. The Hollywood legend was diagnosed with cancer 10 months ago, and although he was receiving ongoing treatment for the disease, finally succumbed to it yesterday at age 73.

Pollack's directing skills won him an Academy Award for Out of Africa, and nominations for They Shoot Horses, Don't They? and Tootsie.

As an actor, he appeared in Michael Clayton, Husbands and Wives, Eyes Wide Shut, and our personal favorite, Will & Grace, among others.

You can watch Pollack's The Way We Were this Sunday June 1st at 1 p.m./12c on Oxygen.

He was one of the greats! He will be missed.
My favorite acting part of his was Dustin Hoffman's manager in Tootsie. He was so funny.
    Bon Voyage Sir!
