One of our favorite (for the right reasons, for once) celebrity couples is tying the knot! Ellen DeGeneres announced on her show today that she and Portia de Rossi will wed. The announcement comes on the heels of the California Supreme Court's ruling that bans on gay marriage are unconstitutional.
Keep your eyes peeled for those wedding photos. Every celebrity from here to Mars will be attending that party!

'special' rights...all we want are EQUAL rights! We want our partner to be recognized as our next-of-kin in case of emergency...we want our partner to be recognized as a full parent to our kids and not have to go through costly 'second-person adoption' procedures...we want our partner to have access to our pensions and insurance and house without worrying if 'blood relatives' will get them first and take away what the two of us have built together.

This is basically the greatest news ever. I was JUST thinking about how much I love Ellen, and now I'm so so so happy for her! She and Portia (two great comedic talents) are a fine match, and I hope they'll be very VERY happy. :)
Congratulations to Ellen and Portia! Not only is this a great occasion for the brides to be, but it is also a great moment for the whole country. Ellen is out in front once again in the struggle for acceptance and inclusion of all people, regardless of their sexuality. Hopefully the publicity of this celebrity wedding will help move public opinion further toward full acceptance of gay people in society and help to combat a discriminatory anti-gay marriage constitutional ammendment that California voters will face in the Fall.
