Whew! We just got back from the Shear Genius event in Times Square and want to thank everyone who came out to get a free blowout, or, you know, just stare at Rene Fris.
But it's not over! Now's your chance to vote for your favorite salon chair, designed by the students at the School for Visual Arts. They're all pretty damn amazing.
You can vote regardless if you attended or not, so go HERE, and vote now.

One thing i must say is that i luv the level of challenge this season. They r starting off with a bang. However i find like last season european hair is not the only hair out there and i think that it's a little unfair, a bit one sided. Although most of the stylisist know how to work with euro hair its not a specialty for some black stylists. They may know the basics but they're not highly skilled in that area putting them at a disadvantage. Would the other stylists on the show have had the same success had the models been african american women with real arfo kinky hair and not that mixed texture of hair that when wet is curly and can be blown straight and only chemically relax their hair once or twice a year, as opposed to one who needs to have that hair straightened every 4 to 6 wks or is not chemically processed and presses their with the comb or iron in order to straighten and or style. Last seasons afro american hair was the hair that gave u optiopns, not everyone had to be relaxed and could be blown out. i want to see them work without that option to see how well the will do. Nothing against the other stylists but, my question is how fair is it that 100% of the models are of euro texture and would the other stylists make the cut if that were their challenge each episode. In Oshun's case euro hair may not have been his nitch and could have excelled more on ethinic hair. He believed in his work because he had too. When i do something thats just not on point i know it i say it and i'll do my best to fix it. And there are just some days i cant, its just a bad day. I tell my client and they're cool with it, because they know that in the morning they'll be ok. Just an overall observation. i luv the show and have been waiting on pins and needles for season 2. I think it will be all that i needed and more. will anything be done to change that

Totally love Shear Genius. I'm looking forward to being on the show in the near future and hopefully by then the clientel will be diversified to include African-American styling.
I enjoyed Jaclyn Smith in Charlie's Angels, however, Shear Genius needs a host w/umph and hair knowledge. I believe J from ANTP would be an excellent candidate, or Tabitha. Continued success!!!!!!!!!11

It was a gross injustice that Parker was eliminated because they didn't like the color on his client !!! His client insisted on doing her own hair color at home !!! How could they judge him on that??? Where did they get the clients from?? Did they pull them in from the street just before the show started?? Don't they give any rules to the clients??

Shear Genius? If it wasn't for Paolo, this show would be called Shear BORING! Come on, if the judges keep choosing mega boring styles and not seeing paolo's extremely wicked cuts, then the producers should get some new judges.
Don't give in Paolo! Keep showing them all what is possible!!

I think one of the challenges should be doing "Halfrican American" hair. The biracial and multiracial population is growing and we need good hairstylists too!! I dread going to hairstylists because I never know how my hair will turn out. I don't trust even the best stylist to understand how to style my hair from ground zero, I always leave the salon with it wet and do it myself.
It would be the ultimate challenge because all biracial african hair is completely different.

Nicole has competed in eight national hair competitions and has done exceedingly well, placing in the top three each time. When she's not working at Arrojo Studio, she's traveling the nation with the Arrojo creative team, teaching workshops and classes at the nation's biggest hair shows.

I am loving this season, but I also have a complaint about the lack of diversity of the hair models. Where are the African-American hair models? Last season's short cut challenge with black hair was a bit anti-climactic since 3 of the 4 stylists left were black/hispanic and were used to working with "ethnic" hair.
I do recognize that there have been some Asian models this season and that is great. I understand from Kim Vo that there are difficulties in dealing with Asian hair, but it is still typically straight and not prone to the issues of black hair.
I submit is it "easy" for the Shear Genius stylists to work on european/caucasian hair since that is what they have and probably deal with at their salons. Let me see them working with African American clients and not just ones with relaxers or naturally straighter hair.

Come on folks, Dee won the cut/wild color challenge on the show this week, her cut and color was amazing, anyone would want to wear her cuts and colors.
what's up with your judgment. the guy that won didn't even cut the hair short, that style looked like a sixties remake, nothing new, exciting, or amazing, in fact it was down right ugly.

Hi, I absolutely love Shear Genius! I have watched each and every one. But I have a problem with the elimination challenge tonight. It should have been a shortcut or not at all. Judging them on grooming dogs is wrong. When the owners looked nothing like their dogs, how could they have won at all? Most had curly dogs, so short of perming, what could they do? Dee was lucky to have gotten the only dog with straight hair. I think it was so unfair to the rest of them. I love this show and can't wait to see many more. Could you tell Charlie to quit being such a b*itch? He creates tension on every show. Anyway, I look forward to every show. Sincerely, Karen Harding
