| Daniel V Goes to Brian Reyes |

First of all, man, I don’t know how these editors do this every season – it’s exhausting! Last night I went to a showing of the new collection from Subversive Jewelry, they’re a small company but with huge potential and a great product. If you’re at all into truly original pieces with an organic feel and lost of texture, this jewelry is for you, check out all of their pieces at www.subversivejewelry.com!
Brian Reyes is next on the list, so let’s get started shall we. His Spring 09 collection was inspired by “the geologically extreme landscapes of Death Valley, Arizona, and Ethiopia”… and I can totally see it. The fabrication and color story were great translations of his inspiration, such as the small, organic ridges on this opening dress, or the use of silk taffeta, whose swirls lent itself beautifully to the aerial view of a topographic map,

For all of the conceptualization, overall, the show was quite relaxed and laidback. His pants for example, had just the right amount of fullness to kept them looking flattering, yet fashion forward.

Overall, I felt it was a great example of a balance of hard and soft, sophisticated yet young, and was filled with both terrific separates for daytime and lovely cocktail dresses for evening.

These two were my favorite looks, seeing as the ombre chiffon was just so stunning, and using it in such a way to make it feel as comfortable as a cotton t-shirt was just fantastic.

Wow! Thanks . . .
You keep bringing us things that we otherwise wouldn't see. And with a commentary that helps us to continue to know where fashion and designers are taking us.
Brian Reyes, a nice vacation for the eyes - what a beautiful translation -
Thanks, again Daniel.
