| Daniel V. at Anna Sui |

If there’s one thing that runs constant in all of Anna Sui’s collections, it’s a hip rock 'n roll vibe, and this season was more of it! Her clothes, though colorful and intricate, never seem to be overly-complicated or over-designed; a designer who adores patterns, color, and texture, and infuses that into each and every garment she designs. Anna Sui never seems to follow the massive trends that other designers chase, she designs exactly for her woman regardless of what others are doing, and that has kept her a constant presence while competing against both the fresh newbies and the veteran goliaths. Therefore, that means that season after season, Sui rides the ebb and flow of popularity, sometimes her clothes are the go-to for the season, and other times they’re pushed to the back. This makes her approach to design a good lesson for young designers as staying true to your design aesthetic will hopefully build a solid foundation for you to work on year after year, after year.
As expected, Sui’s designs for spring ‘09 captured the bold, colorful and joyous enthusiasm that they always have, inspired by both Mexican heritage and the ornate-ness of ancient Egypt. The looks consisted mainly of short shift dresses, peasant blouses and full skirts – embroidered, appliquéd and pieced with every color combination imaginable.

Models SMILING?!?!?!
Thank goodness!
The poor girls probably had to attend a class to re-learn how to smile before hitting the catwalk.
Uh, those are actually egyptian-style sandals, not "south of the border"
Lovely, lovely lovely clothing, very Goddess like, I ador the Isis Sandals, can't wait to see what she's got for Fall
