So, I remember when I first heard about “Hey Paula” a couple months ago. I had heard it was only going to be seven episodes, but I didn’t think they really meant it… apparently, it is so, as tonight’s episode was the seventh and final episode of the season (and possibly the series, God forbid). I WANT MORE!!! But, it was an EXCELLENT episode, in fact, my favorite out of all of them.

This week, we begin with an announcer telling us that we’re going to see some rare, never-before-seen moments from Paula’s life, but before that, we see some highlights from the season (if we can call seven episodes a “season”). We get to relive the tight pants incident with the assistants, the almost non-arrival of Daniel in NYC, and worst of all, that stupid “beetch” reporter wondering if Paula was drunk when they were speaking. Once again, I think Paula needs to strangle her with that cool...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/08/episode_107.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/08/episode_107.php Fri, 03 Aug 2007 10:33:27 -0500 Episode 106 Now, I know that these episodes were filmed months ago, and I would assume that it takes more than a week to edit them, but it seems like the producers of “Hey Paula” read my blog from last week and answered my wish to see what Paula does for fun…sort of.

Paula tells us that she is so busy working, but she wants time to hang out with her friends, Jill and Karen, and that’s exactly what I wanted to see and hear! Paula needs some time for herself, but it’s too bad she didn’t leave that damn cell phone at home (and I only say that as one of my friends is just like that, glued to her phone). The girls are going to an Oscar Gifting party, which should be a fun thing, and for the most part, it looks like fun, but Paula is constantly getting business phone calls, so many that voicemails start to pile...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_106.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_106.php Fri, 27 Jul 2007 14:30:22 -0500 Episode 105 So, does Paula make it to Letterman? Of course, she does!! But not before a little drama… and some fun.

After last week’s QVC appearance, Paula and the gang went back to the hotel, where they learn they cannot leave for NYC because of the snow. Somewhere along the way, Paula has managed to buy some beef jerky that looks exactly like a serious pile of greasy dog poop! In fact, I really thought it was when I first saw it, and I was wondering why in the world the cameras would capture that!! Yes, they did show the “landmines” that Paula’s puppies did in the first episode, but those were not as shiny and gross as this jerky was. Paula decides she is going to have a little fun with her food, and slips it into Assistant Jennifer’s bed. She goes about her business, acting like she is going to bed…only to stay outside the door with the cameras....]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_105.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_105.php Wed, 25 Jul 2007 07:55:42 -0500 Episode 104 I’m all ready to start watching my new favorite show, “Hey Paula”, and get up to speed on what’s been happening in our fair Princess’ life, when the opening credits start rolling, and HOLD THE PHONE!!! This song isn’t “Straight Up”! So I rewound and listened again, and not only was it Paula’s voice, but also a song of hers I had never heard before. Does this mean a new album is coming soon??? Oh, we could only BE so lucky!

In this episode, Paula is hosting a benefit for In Defense of Animals (IDA), an organization that helps animals who lost their homes during Hurricane Katrina. IDA couldn’t have chosen a better host than Paula, as she is the owner of five cute puppies herself, and for as long as I can remember, has always had dogs. But in true Paula fashion: she’s late! This time, it’s because the taping of “American Idol” went an hour over. What can...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_104.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_104.php Thu, 19 Jul 2007 20:43:52 -0500 Episode 103 Having to wait a week for the next episode was torture!! This show should be on at least five nights a week!! But, I guess I’ll find a way to get by with just weekly episodes.

SIGH! It’s hard to watch Paula cry when it’s not for a beautiful song that an Idol has just sung. This time, it’s because she really is upset...and that makes me upset. She needed a big hug from someone, but that wasn’t happening. The episode starts off with a meeting of her “people”, and Publicist Jeff talks about how to deal with the “[crap] sandwich” Paula has found herself in. I do have to give it to Jeff for coming up with the best idea, which is for Paula to keep all her appearance commitments, and to confront the accusations directly. Having followed Paula’s career since her first album came out, I know that there have been times when things got rough, and that...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_103.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_103.php Thu, 19 Jul 2007 20:42:26 -0500 Episode 102 So...remember how Joan Rivers essentially snubbed Paula on the Grammy red carpet last episode? Well, eat this Joan! Paula received the Fashion Icon Award from the Young Menswear Association Fashion Scholarship Fund for Parson School of Design presented by Mr. Fashion himself, Tim Gunn!

Paula arrived fashionably late, of course, but it was all good, as the audience loved her, as did Mr. Gunn. Part of the reason she was late was yet another reason why Paula endears herself to me, and so many others: she was stopping to talk to her fans on the way in. I love that she gives us her time, even when she doesn’t have it.

After the event, Paula -- who is dead tired -- wants to make a late night run to the Starbucks...but, quite frankly, she needs to get to bed!! And that particular night, I wish she had, as the next day was the infamous D-day (D for what the media...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_102.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_102.php Thu, 19 Jul 2007 20:39:00 -0500 Episode 101 Once again, Paula Abdul proves that she can kick ass without even smearing her eyeliner! The debut of “Hey Paula” was a dream come true for me, as I’ve always wanted to be a fly on the wall (or a diamond in her earring) to see what goes on in the daily life of Paula. Well, “Hey Paula” delivered, and how!

In this first episode, we get to see Paula readying herself for the Grammys, and a great insight into Paula’s views about herself. Although I’ve known for years that Paula has a great sense of humor, it seemed to shine through even more tonight, especially with the self-deprecating comments about how long it’s been since she’s had a hit record. I’ve always worried that all the bad vibes that people spread about Paula might get back to her, but she showed that she knows what’s up, and frankly doesn’t care! I also was pleasantly surprised by Paula joking around...]]> http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_101.php http://www.bravotv.com/blog/ultimatepaulafan/2007/07/episode_101.php Thu, 19 Jul 2007 20:28:16 -0500
