No sooner had Rebecca and Jackie finished re-applying lip gloss, than Jackie’s other love interest, Tiffany, walks into the sushi place and plants a big wet one on Jackie. Awkward! All the trainers sat stunned looking at each other as Jackie commented on the spicy tuna. Erika actually whispered in my ear, “Hey, why don’t you and I make out now?” Although a funny idea, I don’t think it would help the tension at this table.
The men definitely have issues with this new development. Jesse’s jealous of losing precious Jackie time and attention. Andre’s irritated because he sees three hot chicks kissing and has no hope of scoring there. Peeler has called us his “family” since day one, so perhaps Jackie’s interest in Rebecca seems incestuous to him as well as “unethical” because of the boss/employee relationship. And Gregg couldn’t finish eating all three plates of sushi before we left Jackie and Tiffany alone.

I can't imagine the loss you are all feeling. Millions of us are now reeling from this sudden loss, and we only got to look in on Doug's kindness and good-spirit. You all must be hurting. Know that I, and many others are thinking of you and wishing you all good feelings!

I just wanted to say that although I understand Jackie not wanting to publicize Doug's death I am a little upset that it was left like it was. Through websites I already knew that he had passed. Why was it left that way? Will there be anything about his memorial service that I could read? I thought Doug was a great inspiration for everyone...straight or gay....fitness guru or couch potato, he really was that ideal human being we all want to know or to be. I just knew him through the television and I am upset, I can't even imagine what the trainers and his friends especially Chao are going through. I just wanted to know if we will hear anything else or if that was it? Thank you, Melody

Zen,
You and Doug are by far my favorite trainers on the show. You did a great job at the Laugh Factory; hope to see you on Comedy Central someday soon!

I am stunned to hear Doug passed away. I don't watch the news a lot, but I watch Bravo all the time. When did he pass away? I just finished watching the episode and it said he was awake and talking. Now he's dead.
I have so much death in the last few years of my life that the loss of someone I didn't even know, shouldn't be so hard, but because he was so young. It hurts. I wish something had been said about his passing and if something isn't done on the next show I won't be watching anymore.

Dear Zen;
I love that name!! It sounds so-o-o soothing, almost as if we are supposed to meditate when we hear your name. LOVE the show and I like you and Jackie the best of all the trainers...Happily married and I am straight, but still LOVE the show.. I find all of the LOVE twists fascinating..
I am avid about working out and need to do more of that...But hate the expense of going to a gym...I have alot of knowledge of working out and need to put more of it into practice...Blessings and continued success with your comedy and the t.v show!!

Zen, I hope your experience at the Laugh Factory was a great one. I can only imagine how nervous you must have been, not to mention having cameras there to record the whole thing! I find it a bit selfish that Jackie and Rebecca had to choose YOUR night to bring their 'relationship' into the open. It should have been about you that night, not them. Maybe it was just for the cameras, and I'm sure editing made it look this way, but your performance wasn't even discussed at dinner, just the new two-some.
Also, I'm so very sad about Doug's passing. You seemed to have a wonderful relationship and I know you must miss her terribly.
My best,

Dear Zen,
I am so sad to have heard this morning that Doug passed away. I just happened to see the blog section of this website and noticed that he was being talked about in past tense. It does kind of suck that there wasn't even a memorium at the of the show, like "Dedicated to Doug Blasdell-1962-2007 or something. Last night I thought he was getting better and here I found out he already passed...what? a couple of months ago? I can't seem to find any info on when he died. (nevermind-I just saw the update on his bio) The show sure kept it a secret! Anyhow, I'm sorry for you loss.
I see that you are originally from LaGrange, Il! My mom was born and raised there; what a small world. It isn't that big of a town. She moved to California when she was 13. She took me to her childhood home a few years ago; we even met the owners and got a tour. It was very emotional. Sadly, my mom died one year ago this Friday, so I'm still mourning her. I, too, have had too much death in my life, so Doug's death touched me. I just started watching this season and I immediately "fell in love" with him. I'm so sad.
Love the show!!!! Gregg really likes you! And I love how supportive you are to everyone. Have fun and stay grounded.

Bored commentary from my hotel room
Although this has the start of a craigslist casual encounters ad, it's merely a few observations that I feel fit in Zen's blog....because there's no better place in the world to put things like this than Zen's blog:
- why does Todd Oldham look like a ragamuffin from the depression and Jonathon Adler look like the mayor of Bizarroland
- why do I wait to get to a hotel to wear a shower cap while I watch tv, I should be enjoying this in the comfort of my own home...or while at the park...or gardening...
- My girlfriend confronted a man making a lewd gesture towards us at the Starbucks in LaGrange across from the Blueberry Hill, when confronted he said ' you're crazy, I was doing that to the girl across the street'. to which my girlfriend said.."the 12 year old?"...that's the news from the homefront for Zen
- WorkOut was on my flight on JetBlue. The 76 year old next to me who couldn't figure out her tv enjoyed watching mine too..welcome to the fold fellow flier, welcome to the fold.
- Had a bout of insomnia last night, was thinking about the comments from Erica and Zen about what would happen to Rebecca ( let's call her BecBec, because it's fun, but I can't believe I lost sleep over it) if they had a fight or would break up. My thought = Rebecca shouldn't be the one worried, Jackie has more to lose as she can be sued for retaliation, harrassment and unjust or illegal termination. I came to the conclusion that I don't think either JW or BecBec are that malicious and I was able to sleep.
- Didn't David Hasselhoff go to Lyons Township ? Or maybe he went to St. Joe's......speaking of.....remember how all the girls went to Immaculate Heart (IHM) and the boys went to St. Joe's....and Judy Tenuta went to Immaculate Heart....does that mean that Emo Phillips went to St. Joe's ?
- I thought I dreamt that I saw your thong through your junkpants....thanks for confirming that my dreams have become a reality.
- why does BecBec have the " I smell something stinky" look on her face on the Bravo Work Out page ?
- how much do you think it would cost to have that shrink from the Soprano's do the therapy session with Jackie and Mimi...
- people from Chicago don't say "CHI-TOWN" , but everyone NOT from Chicago always refers to people from Chicago as " CHI-TOWN" ...that's annoying.
- re: " Erika actually whispered in my ear, “Hey, why don’t you and I make out now?” " a.i giggled like a schoolgirl..b. why didn't you ?
To Zen..goes without saying...couldn't be more sorry for your loss....sincerely..also couldn't be more thankful for the thong shot...sincerely.....he'd want you to flash it I'm sure ;)
To my gf who I know will read Zen's blog tomorrow before she leaves work, miss you, see you when I get home Friday, flight lands at 10.....see ya' later decorator
To the site owner who has to approve the comment before it appears.........um, please ?

Doug went through more loss than I think one person should ever go through. He seemed sad about his birthday and the fact that all his family had passed on. He also seemed lonely to me. He was such a great guy. I'M F-CKING PISSED HE'S GONE! I plan on donating to his charity and telling everybody about it. He deserves it! I noticed on his myspace website that you and peelar still email him messages. It's very touching. I'm starting my own myspace website and I'm putting him down as my hero because I couldn't think of a better person who deserves it.
My name is Larry Brunton. I'm from Columbus, Ohio. My email address is larry.brunton@yahoo.com & my cell phone number is (614) 598-6957. I'm offering my services. If for what ever reason you need someone to help raise funds for his charity or anything at all I couldn't think of any better cause than to do something in honor of Doug. I mean it. He really deserves the best. The way he conducted himself as a human being was remarkable. I think of him as an inspiration-gay or straight. He is truly missed and loved.

I wanted to second Angie's comments about the focus of the dinner after your stand-up act. Maybe it was editted out, but I thought it was rather sad that a teeny bit of attention couldn't have been directed your way to congratulate you on a fun performance. I'm sure a lot of us out here are sending you belated kudos.

Hello Zen,
My name is Chris, big fan of the show. I have no big comments about any of you except you each rock. Hey you're human and none of you do anything that the rest of the world doesn't do!!! You by the way are awesome and so so funny!
All i really wanted to do is give my condolences to all of you and Dougs "Family"! I have watched workout since day one and I have always thought the world of Doug. I cried like a big baby last season watching you and Doug when you went hiking. I am not sure as to what problems you were having( and I hope you 100% again), but the way that Doug wanted to be there for you and help you. Inspiring!! I related a lot to you because I was going through a lot myself, I wish i had a Doug in my life, at that time most every family member and friend that i counted on, just let me down hard. It wasn't like what was going on in my life at the time wasn't life changing, it extremely was! Watching the two of you was wonderful to see! The way Doug seemed so open and so caring, he is the kind of person that we need most in a world such as the one we are living in today. I as a gay man totally looked up to Doug and will strive to live my life the way it seemed Doug lived his. I am usually the theropist of my group so I guess it shouldn't be too hard. Oh and Doug being masc isn't the reason that i look up to him, just so that Jesse knows that I totally am in love with him too!!! Again my condolences to you all for your loss!
