This castle is on a heart-shaped island... seriously. Although that should be the only sign you need to book, the pictures will surely push you over the edge. The castle was built by George Boldt (past owner of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in NYC) for his wife. It’s technically in New York — but is in the Thousand Island between Canada and the U.S.A., and is only reachable by boat.
