How'd you like last night's NYC Prep? It was a big topic on Twitter last night, so it seems to be something people are discussing. For all the ruckus about this show being scandalous, am I the only one who finds it tame compared to the drugs and sex depicted in Gossip Girl?

It's interesting too that the schools the teens attend all seem to be having little conniption fits about the show. Given that we went to great pains to never mention their names or anything about the actual schools, they are drawing an enormous amount of attention to themselves  I think that's odd.

So in celebration of July 4th and our nation's independance, Bravo is presenting a special epsiode of The Fashion Show tonight! What says July 4th more than THAT!? "Nothing" is the correct answer.

We had our finale event last Friday at Cipriani Wall Street and it was an insane mashup of Bravolebs and fashionistas. The Real Housewives of NYC and Jersey were all in one row joined by Tabatha, Laura Bennett, Kelly Choi, Glenda Bailey, and of course Fern, Isaac, and Kelly. The NYC Prep girls were there too as well as Real Kids of NYC Avery Singer and Ally Zarin and many of the Real Kids of Jersey. The highlight of the day besides the fashion just may have been chatting with Teresa's daughter Gia. She had on lipstick and I loved it.

Did anyone see Tavis Smiley's interview with Berry Gordy the other night? It was simultaneously disappointing and fascinating. I wanted more, I guess, and to hear Gordy's POV on Jackson's later years and psychology. Given his knowledge of the early days, I bet Gordy has an interesting take on Jackson's later implosion.

RANDOM NONSEQUITURS A LA LARRY KING: I just started following Andy Cooper on Twitter and there are actually TOO many updates. Do I have to un-follow? ... I am dating myself, but recall when USA Today launched and there was an uproar that it was too bite-sized and everyone was too dumbed down. Is Twitter doing the same thing? Will our children only be able to have 140 character-sized thoughts? Will I? ... We announced August premiere dates today for Flipping Out (8/17) and Rachel Zoe (8/25)! ... It is thundering to beat hell here. Is it summer? ... How is it possible that Journey is having such a huge comeback? ... Where is Diana Ross? Can Barbara Walters book that interview please so we can listen to her opine about Michael?

Personally, I love nyc prep and I am probably old enough to be everyone's grandmother. Lighten up, people. Its good to see whats happening with prep school youth as well as public school kids. It is 2009, for heavens sake. We dont have to like them, but they are an interesting cross section of the wealthy elite youth of New York, not so different from why we love the Real Housewives. They're lives are vastly different from our own, but we all love watching the wealty train wrecks as well as the simple ones. Its called entertainment and reality tv.

Sebastian's hair is a distraction. If he brushes it to the side one more time, I am never watching Bravo again.

Andy, I strongly recommend sticking with your own hair. Sebastian's hair would be okay if it came without the constant flipping. It's only the second episode, and it's already driving me crazy.

Hello Andy

I watched the preview special for NYC Prep and I thought it was distasteful. The difference between Gossip Girl (I used to watch but don't anymore) is that it's fiction. I think as adults and we think this type of behavior is just for show and tv. But when it's put in front of us, we realize the state the youth is actually in and it's frightening.

Looking forward to Flipping Out!

Hi Andy! Will you please accept me as a friend on Facebook? It has been awaiting confirmation for some time... and I want to be friends! :) Thanks!

I agree with Julie. Sorry, Andy, you seem nice enough but Bravo is going too much in the same direction as Fox broadcasting with its reality shows. Just watching the previews of NYC prep and The Real Housewives of New Jersey was enough for me to avoid those shows like the plague. Yes, I will even agree that Kathy Griffin's show, even though I am a fan of hers, seems to be slipping, and edited for shock value, which is getting old. Please remember that a lot of people over 35 like myself enjoy Bravo shows and we don't wish to be pushed out of your viewing audience.

Back in old-timey times (1976) we all coveted hair like that. It was as close to Farrah hair as allowed for boys. Mine never worked out that way. Sad.

Andy, I saw your Tweet last night about Sebastian's hair as well. Seriously?? I wanna nominate him for "What Not to Wear", just so Nick Arrojo can pare that 70's sh*t down!
Anyhow, here is what I love about NYC Prep... I read the blogs of every Bravo show I'm into and those kids know how to write better than all the NYC Housewives combined. Excuse me, did Camille just use the word "oblique" in this week's blog? Oh, yes she did! *Awesome.*
And lastly, PC's therapy session? Wow. Weird thing to watch - and I can only imagine what it was like to be him or the therapist, trying to be genuine with cameras in the room - but it was powerful in it's own surreal way.

Just saw Dina on My Big Fat Wedding-so I don't believe Caroline's tears after we watching such selfish behavior as I did on that old episode about Dina's wedding. They both are reality show professionals and know whats what. I feel duped.

Andy your sexy, fuzzy chest fur beats Sebastians feathered hair any day of the week. Although PC is pretty cute and looks like he is going to be quite the fuzzy stud.

PS...cant wait for Jeff Lewis and Flipping Out.
the real Housewives of where ever could just go away.

I just Love, Love, Love,You! I read your Blogs daily. I was so touched by your Blog last week when you wrote of your memories of M.J and his concert that you attend with your dear friend Natasha Richardson the night before 9/11. I know that wasn't an easy Blog for you to write and I commented on your Blog to tell you so.

Hi Andy,
I love your blog and am a daily reader! One thing I like is that you constantly ask for feedback about your shows. I feel I must express my disappointment in the direction Bravo is taking. I first started watching Queer Eye and then found Project Runway and Top Chef. I enjoyed the OC Housewives because I could identify with a lot of the family/work stuff they were going through. However, it seems that Bravo is evolving into back to back Housewives that are becoming increasingly bizarre. Each season is more of a train wreck than the previous. Tamara's comment in your video blog about having to "step it up" confirms to me that each season is just trying to outdo the others. I used to enjoy Kathy Griffin because her show was also about her life. Now she just trys to be as filthy as she can, for shock value. NYC Prep is a disgrace. If we wanted another version of The Hills or Gossip Girl, we would just watch those shows. Please get back to more intelligent programming. Thanks for listening!

Andy, agree in theory that Diana Ross would be a great interview on Michael Jackson but in reality it would be very boring. Diana is fiercely protective of Michael and would be unwilling to really shed any insights into the man child and what became of him. Interesting to see that she was named in his will as an alternate guardian in the event Katherine Jackson died prior to Michael or was unable to serve as guardian.

I can't believe Larry King gets paid for that USA Today crap.
