Tonight is the finale of Flipping Out, and it's jam-packed! A trip to NYC, deadlines, fajitas at Casa Vega, and a bunch of reveals.
Bummed to have missed the Beverly Hills soiree celebrating the launch of the Housewives of 90210. Paris was there to cheer on her aunts, as was La Toya Jackson. I don't remember who LTJ was cheering on, but I like that she and Jeff Lewis were in the same room.
Last night in NYC, I was at Hoda Kotb's book party at Donny Deutsch's Upper East Side Townhouse and it was wall to wall NBC News superstars celebrating HodaWoman, including Matt Lauer, Kathie Lee (and Frank), Al Roker, Willie Geist, and Lester Holt - plus Joan Rivers, Gayle King, and just a trillion NYC media titans. It was a scene and Donny's townhouse is supermodern and massive and unbelievably beautiful and (not to be crass but it was all anyone was talking about). Must be worth 30 million bucks.
When I got home, there was the GREATEST thunder and lightning storm we've had in a long time. It was a turn-off-the-lights, light-the-candles, open-the-windows, crank-the-music kinda night, and watching lightning bolts light up the Manhattan sky followed by massive thunderclaps was never so fun. I rode that storm to death!
Then I caught up on Mad Men late last night. The S is hitting the F at Sterling Cooper Draper Price is in bad shape, and I don't know what's going to happen. That being said, I could barely keep my eyes open for the show and had to re-watch a scene with Don and Peggy three times, and I still don't know what was said. Is it wrong that I think Sally is a better actress than her mom? Is it OK that I want to nuzzle Joan? I am in deep misery that next week is the finale. Me NO likey this. At. All.
Had a wonderful breakfast with Isaac Mizrahi this morning at Cafe Cluni. He was wearing Autumn Whites. And a bandana.
Andy, Have you ever thought of having Chelsea Handler on WWHL? Have you ever been invited on her show, Chelsea Lately, when you have been on the west coast? You both are my most favorite tv personalities!!
Not to get off topic Andy, did see Donny's 26ml dollar pad on the upper east side on HuffPost. Great for him. Saw you with Gail King. Your right, quite a crowd. To me anyway its worth mentioning something. Years ago regarding the white house. When President Kennedy had his inauguration the police chief in my town was invited. I worked at our local drugstore while in highschool and the chief would come in for coffee all the time. One day he had a hugh smile on his face and we asked him what was up, well come to find out he was on the p.t.109 with President Kennedy. The first thing we all asked was to see the invitation. The following day he brought it in. He wouldn't let us touch it. But we saw it and had a long discussion. With a formal state dinner invitations are sent out. My husband believes the producers where equally at fault for not checking this out. I guess there are times we all have to look in the mirror.
What a party that must have been.I don't usually envy people, but I do envy you for being there and me not being there.i'm loving Hoda ...she's a super Lady in every way and I can't wait to read her book.Someday Andy, you have to write a book .
I heart Joan. And I am a "Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall" reciting queen. But I want to nuzzle her too... or is it, once again, that we just want to BE her, Andy?
WOW what a life you have. Living a good life is the best revenge. You have sooo much talent and class. I admire you.
Enjoyed the thunder and lightning, too! Glad you mentioned it. And Hoda is absolutely the best. I am so glad there was a great party in her honor. I will actually buy that book!
