Andys Blog

Well Part ONE is tonight ... followed by the premiere of NYC Prep, which The New York Times this morning called "boot camp in Prada shoes."  I have no clue what exactly that MEANS, but it's a fantastic pull-quote and so I'm pulling and quoting.

Remember a few months ago when Liza came to the NYC Reunion show taping and I posted her thoughts on my blog? The morning we taped the NJ reunion Dina came up to me and asked where my friend was and if she was going to post her mean comments about the Jersey ladies too.  First of all, her comments weren't MEAN. Secondly, here they are!

LIZA'S 7 OBSERVATIONS OF THE JERSEY REUNION TAPING:

1. They all looked younger in person, especially Caroline.

2. Unlike "NYC Housewives Reunion" there was an eerie silence in the room as all the ladies walked in

3. Danielle was the last to walk in and it felt like Erica Kane had arrived.

4. You could barley hear them, again, unlike the NY housewives who you could hear from the next room.

5. As the hours went by Danielle's posture got worse and worse, to the point that she almost became one of the throw pillows on the couch.

6. They seemed  (except for Danielle) somewhat low maintenance. Again, compared to NY.

7. Andy worked his ass off.

Thanks, Lize! I actually did work my ass off, but that's because I think the women were kind of terrified of what was going to happen in a forum meant for confrontation. (You saw what happened in the forum meant for eating ....)  Truthfully, the women were dreading the reunion
since the day they came to Bravo after filming six or eight months ago.  It's a different energy reunion (not as much fighting about every little moment as the NY Ladies) but it's extremely intense, and tense in general.

My freaking BlackBerry is STILL broken and Liza was kind enough to give me a wake-up call at 7:15 this morning, so she not only contributed to this blog, but she got me up in time for the gym. And, just for her, here's  a preview clip of the ladies discussing the mob ....

I HAVE TRIED TO WATCH ALL THE HOUSEWIVES SERIES BUT, I CAN HONESTLY SAY THE ONLY ONE THAT KEPT MY INTEREST AND I WATCHED ALL THE TIME WAS THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY. THEY HAVE THE MOST INTERESTING PERSONALITIES. AND LIVES OF THE BUNCH. CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT SEASON.

Hello Andy first off I have to say with the show I liked Danielle the best out of all the women she seemed to be the most real. Like all of us we just need good friends in this world the other women on the show seemed to be two faced. So what she had a book written about 23 years ago all of us have a past some of us have past that we are not proud of it is called life and those women were not put on this earth to judge. Danielle needs to look else where for true friendships I wished I lived in New Jersey I would be her friend with no strings attached she has two beautiful daughters and that for her should be her main focus, but if she ever needs a ear to lean on send her my email and I will write her whenever she needs!!!!!!!!!!

Andy,

You did ask hard questions! I guess some viewers wanted to see a free for all on the reunion...LOL Danielle is sooo fake if anyone has the slightest common sense you can see right through her. She seriously needs mental health treatment....Someone mentioned Borderline....Good Call! Caroline had more patience than I because she was right. Danielle was not sincere and she knew "EXACTLY" what dirty deed Caroline was speaking about....The woman knows no boundaries...I agree that someone needs to step up and question the impact that it will have on her girls with her inappropriate behaviors, treating them more as adults than kids...seems like they are there for her instead of her being there for them...She must have contact with thier father as in the one show she called him wanting her settlement money.....Is that her ex that wrote the book...I hope someone who is tactful (not a Jerry Springer) invites him to a talk show so the public can hear his side. Danielle never mentions "family" other than her girls does she have any? You can just watch her face and reactions or non reactions and see that this is a person who needs some serious therapy! For the girls sake I hope she gets some.

I came on this site to write EXACTLY what the person before me wrote on 06/24/2009 - 9:09am. Teresa, Dina and Caroline live by double standards. It is ok for Christopher to own a strip club but not ok that Danielle "may" have been a striper. It is ok for them to accuse Danielle of being in the Columbia cartel but when they are confronted about the mafia it is a whole different story.

And Teresa, wow what a nut job. She has no clue what real life is all about. Her husband has her tucked away and that house of stone (inside and out, how cold is that) and hands her rolls of cash to keep her happy. Her kids are out of control and spoiled. Talk about drama! That is all she is....who wears a huge hat like that. She is looking for attention. Her little show of flipping the table was childish and discussing her sex life is not classy. She has no room to talk about Danielle.

They are way to hard on Danielle and need to correct their own flaws and leave Danielle alone. Caroline may be tough but I do not think she is honest. Her explanation for the mafia was weak. They are thick as thieves... and thieves lie and cheat.

ok first let me say,i have watched the housewives of orange county, the real house wives of ny.I watched them both faithfully.i did watch your first season and have to say i found it to be a little upsetting that it seemed to be less about your lives and more about your lives WITH DANIELLE.i dont have that kind of drama in my life so why would i want to toon in for a second season of DANIELLE and her drama.I also believe that the book being brought out at the dinner was just to get it noticed for a sales promo.she really has to go,she is phoney as the day is long and like i said if she is on the next season this viewer will not be watching.she is one who will always take a persons kindness as a weakness, and take full advantage of it.

T
his has been the best series Bravo has ever done! Every one of these women were unique, and very watchable. Dina: You are beautiful, kind, and very smart. Caroline: You are brainy, elegant, and a great mother and homemaker. YOU are my hero! Teresa: You are fun and adorable. People are drawn to you. Jacqueline: You are so so sweet, but please stand by your family. Danielle is no your friend, and you need to stay away from this very dark soul. Danielle: You are the dark soul of the group, and your eyes betray you, especially on the reunion show. Please get some help before you destroy those beautiful girls of yours.

Andy, I don't agree with homosexuality, but I very well too thought that Joe's comment was offensive, and I'm glad that you stuck up for yourself and what you believe. I really liked how Danielle stuck up for herself as well. Caroline thought she was so tough but at the end of the show she was crying. Payback is a motherbleep. I bet she will think again about putting someone's business in the street that she doesn't even know to be true. Especially past business. Her only intent was to hurt Danielle, just simply because she didn't care for her - how childish and immature. I don't even want to get started on Theresa, it seems as though she may be a descent woman who doesn't know how to be a woman. She got caught up in her Auntie's mess. Like Jackie said what is right is right and what's wrong is wrong. Dina knew she was wrong that why she was so nervous at the "Last Supper" and really just wanted to walk out because she was caught being a devious and malicious and just plain ole mean person. Some people can't handle the truth. To sum everything up I'm really proud of Danielle. Carolyn said don't mess with her, but Danielle proved it. Show beats tell all day long.

“People watching “ has been a normal and common past-time and form of entertainment for human beings for all time. Reality TV is no different except that it is done via television rather than in a public forum. We all people watch. It’s not about approval or disapproval of another’s lifestyle and habits; rather, it is observation and interesting to many to see how others live – similarities and differences to our own lives. On another note, one would have to question the wisdom, or lack thereof, of the NJ Housewife Teresa Giudice and her husband flaunting large stacks of cash, a questionable practice and one which could draw the attention of the IRS. Typically, those who operate on a (large) cash basis are hiding their true income. More power to the Giudices if they can do so – if they can keep their money instead of it going to the IRS to distribute to lazy, able-bodied adults who, in mass number, receive subsidized housing and food subsidies paid for by hardworking Americans. It just doesn’t seem intelligent for them to draw attention to their large-cash dealings. Given the high viewership of reality shows like the various housewives shows , clearly there are many normal, healthy, educated people who enjoy “people watching” (i.e., reality TV). It’s fun for many, whether we approve or disapprove of what we see. I can’t imagine putting myself “out there,” as these housewives do, for all of the criticism, scrutiny and bashing they have to tolerate in order to have a TV show. It must pay well to justify risking insults to your character, reputation and dignity. No thanks! But, I do love these shows! Thanks Bravo TV family! Yep! I’m a people watcher – college educated but love reality TV. Big deal! It’s soooo fun! Andy is a superb, intelligent and classy interviewer / mediator / truth-finder -- gentle and polite, but firm and straightforward.

I was really disappointed in the reunion show. It was low energy, no hard questions were asked, and it seemed like the family girls had their whole script worked out prior to the show. There was a lot of material to work with from this show, so I was expecting so much more. Andy, I think you could have done a much better job facilitating this reunion. The following are just a few of the obvious questions I wish you would have asked :

What exactly do these families do to make all this money? Teresa and her husband talk like they barely completed high school yet they own this huge mansion, spend over a $100,000 on furniture in one day, and pay for everything with cash. He's a contractor? I don't know any contractors that live like that. Something just isn't right here.

Caroline strongly defends her family against charges that they have mob ties, but she and her family are a walking, talking mob stereotype. So her father-in-law was killed by the mob? Was her father-in-law in the mob? Don't mobsters many times kill other mobsters in turf wars or for disloyalty? I'm sure there is much more to this story that Ms. Caroline isn't telling us.

Caroline's stated numerous times during the course of the series that when her family is attacked, she attacks back. Well, isn't spreading rumors about Danielle's all around town attacking her family? Shouldn't Danielle be able to attack back as well?

Lastly, I would just like to state that having all the women in the series but one be members of the same family is a really bad idea. This dynamic made the show very two dimensional (family vs Danielle) and I believe it is also contributed greatly to making the Reunion Show so boring.

Hi Andy,
I have an idea that you could perhaps convey to the Bravo "deciders". How about "Real Housewives, San Franciso".... ALL MEN!!! The West Coast needs more representation.
This has nothing to do with the revelation of your sexual orientation on the NJ reunion so please don't take offense. I couldn't care less about that. I just figured you could pass this idea along.
Thanks,

Andy, as far as I am concerned, the only person who has shown "class" is Chris, Jaqueline's husband, when he said that Danielle was welcome in his house, and in this way showed his disgust for the behavior of his sisters. I was pleased to see that Jacqueline spoke up about Dina and Caroline's antics. Caroline likes to portray Jacqueline as an ignorant moron who does not know the difference between right and wrong, but of every one of these women, Jacqueline is the only one who has a sense of goodness, kindness, decency, and fairness. I am glad she is married to a decent man.

And what about Teresa? Human beings have a tendency to self-delude themselves. Some more than others, of course. But in what parallel universe is behavior like Teresa's defined as "classy"? She thinks of herself as a classy lady.... WOW Her language is not only inappropriate but gramatically incorrect time and time again. It hurts to hear someone speak with such vulgarity. She may have tons of money, but class, that is to defined by throwing money around, and in cash!! I am certain the IRS is watching with delight at the way she operates. Usually, large expenditures in cash are a red flag, as they are perceived as attempts to evade taxation. Teresa so far has won the title of Queen of Vulgarity.

The Housewives of New Jersey were difficult to watch. The housewives out perform all of the other housewives on Bravo television. The narrow minded brains of each housewife didn't belong on television. I would like the housewives to ponder the following questions:

* Have you ever seen the sun rupture the North Atlantic waters from the sky at dawn?

* Have you ever felt the Mona Lisa smile at you as you peruse the room where she is displayed?

* Have you ever gazed over Paris from the highest point of the Eiffel Tower?

* Have you ever felt the startling gust of wind as you climb to the summit of Ayers Rock?

* Have you ever crossed the International Date Line, The Arctic Circle, the Tropic of Capricorn?

* Have you ever read the bewildering autobiography of Adolf Hitler?

* Have you ever read the politics of Plato?

I suggest that each New Jersey Housewife climb out of their self-loathing gutter and ponder a life of substance and rise above petty grievences.

Sincerely,
Lenora of Michigan

Andy--just say it. They are all offensive and it has much more to do than the inappropriate gay comment. I loved watching Theresa cover up her homophobic husband with the "I had a gay friend over". I agree w/the above, SHUT CAROLINE UP! Or actually get her English lessons along w/Theresa. The look on your face through Reunion 1 was priceless. Can't wait to see the next.

Even as a gay person, I did not find Joe's comment offensive. I just thought he was out of his element as a macho man being drug to a dance lesson and must have been very uncomfortable, and that is just the phrase he uses. I'm not saying it was right.

Last year when Tamara made a similar comment, I was very offended. She said it with such contempt and malice in her voice, and it was directed to another cast member that she did not like. I was even more offended after she got backlash on her blog, then she claimed to LOVE the gays.

And I wonder why this is such an incredible issue on Andy's blog now, but not last year?

I am so suprised at those that are still insulting Danielle and saying she's a drama queen. Danielle was not the one to bring out the book and spread it all over town. Danielle wasnt in Atlantic City when Steve calleed Teresa. Teresa was the one who put Danielle's name in the conversation. Women are catty and between Teresa, Dina and Caroline, they were downright bitches to Danielle.

No one has a perfect life and we have all made mistakes in the past, to dig into someone's past and spread it all over town is unforgivable! Those 3 were the drama queens and I applaud Danielle for being the class act she was in dealing with these women!!!

Dear Andy-

Dear Andy-

Joe's remark was offensive, but I don't honestly believe him to be homophobic. As a gay man, I embrace Danielle for speaking up not only in defense of her best friend, but for the entire gay community. I suppose that many of us can relate to Danielle, having been victims of hate and mean-spirited gossip ourselves and having done things in our lives that we now regret. Dina and Caroline (I love you both and think you have great families and don't believe any of that mob-association nonsense) need to lighten up on Danielle and accept her as the same type of imperfect human being that they and all of us are. Spreading rumors about anyone is wrong, hurtful and can lead to disaster for those who are victimized by it. The Manzos have been there and should have learned that lesson but obviously they didn't. Maybe now they do. Jackie and Teresa, you both are wonderful spirits too, though Ashley should not have gotten the car and your beautiful little girls, Teresa, need a little discipline in their lives. I admire and respect all of you, your husbands and your families. I'm a product of NJ myself.

Thanks to you too, Andy, for your wonderful hosting job and for defending the community of which you are a part. Jersey Girls, I love all of you. I accept your weaknesses and admire your strengths. Danielle, I'd love to have a cup of coffee with you sometime. I'm not sure if these shows are sometimes staged, but to be honest, I don't care. When it comes to watching the Housewives of NJ (and NY too), in the words of Caroline Manzo, 'Bring it On". Leo from Edgewater, NJ

Theresa thought that sticking up for gays is "drama" on Danielle's part. What could be more "drama" than flipping a table over, breaking dishes and glasses, and using the f word and disgusting language at the top of her lungs like she did? What do you call that? Give me a break. Theresa is extremely immature and Caroline and Dina egging her on and acting like they admire her is just juvenile, middle school behavior. Grow up and act your ages.

Love, love, love the girls of NJ! They are great, but I must say tonight was SLOW! Danielle is creepy you can tell she is hiding something and I don't like it. Please remover her from the show! No one needs someone like that in there life. I will say I think that all of the women acted very mature but we need more action! It seems like Dina is really trying to be a the bigger person with Danielle, I commend her for that!

Caroline has such a chip on her shoulder. She even says she does not like people at first and they have to earn her respect. No one owes you anything, get over yourself! Except for Danielle, none of the women could speak for themselves, everything was "We thought" and "We felt". Stop ganging up and bullying Danielle! Dina, Caroline and Theresa did not think it was "appropriate" to bring the book to the dinner - but they thought it was appropriate to throw a table and use the f word a hundred times while calling a woman vulgar names in front of her children? Come on, what a double standard. No one is buying this. Get real.

Dear Andy,

I understand how the "GAY-COMMENT", taken in and of itself, could offend. Being gay in this country shuffles between chic and trendy, (can you say Lindsay Lohan?) and an evil abomination, (thank you bible-thumpers and Rush Limbaugh alike). Moreover, being Gay is not without its dangers and difficulties in our modern world, therefore, turning how one lives his/her life into a casual joke or remark can have a demeaning affect, with very little effort, intended or otherwise. Nonetheless, let’s all take a good look at context and origin before getting our collective panties in a knot, shall we? In the case of Joe, it was an idiot thing to say, juvenile and furthermore, really not even about the actuality of being Gay.

In comparison, I’m always amused at the acceptability of calling someone a “retard” in this country of ours. It was used by Danielle, I believe, during the show, and is widely used in comedy routines and movies, usually to denote some absurd behavior or belittle someone for something they either did or said. When that happens, I, as the mother of a seriously retarded daughter, always think, “Hmm, Briana would never do (or say) that. I wonder from whom their reference is drawn, to think that is so retarded.” Over the last eight years I’ve heard, at least a thousand times over, President G. W. Bush referred to as retarded, and that really bothered me because my daughter, on her worst day, was never as dumb as that man. But I’ve been tolerating this sort of thing for a good long while, now, and I guess that’s about all one can truly do in a free society… Grin and bear it. That, and perhaps hope that people someday learn how to articulate without offending.

Take care,
BJFerguson

Last night, oy vey.. I wish Caroline would have stopped with the histrionics, it's too much already! We got it, Caroline, you love your family but please try get to the point and honestly, you are too young to sound so old fashioned Italian American.. come up with an alternate program for G's sake. There are a hundred ways to say the same thing, you know.

I do resent, as she does, the fact that because they are Italian American, a fact she failed to point out relative to the Mob comment, and living in North Jersey, they may have Mafia ties.. NO ONE WITH MOB TIES IS GOING TO BE ON REALITY TV.. PERIOD!
Ignorant statements contrary to that fact are simply galling.

And of course Teresa is right about the Gay thing with Danielle, she grabbed on to that for more time in the spotlight. After what she has done even lately, Danielle's attempt to sound like a person of integrity rings hollow. Tamra on the OC was more vile and snarky in her G comment in actuality and you, Andy, did not disavow that one on line as you might have, plenty of us complained about it. Danielle is a problem child who has taken every moment of her time (on the edited version of the show at least)to talk about herself or Dina Manzo; one does not have to look far to see her duplicity- it comes through loud and clear on camera- if the viewer has even the smallest level of maturity and sophistication.

Dina is certainly a good sampling of what the show might be about if she were allowed to show us her true self.. she speaks well, is attractive, and does not come off as a 75 year old grandma as Caroline does.. That said, I like the Manzo clan and Caroline and love her kids.. Though Teresa speaks very poorly, word pronunciations like "pitcher" for picture, "sangwich" for sandwich and "Mah--haa-en" for Manhattan, her kids are precious and smart -I hope she will correct her language shortcomings before her kids get any older.

Dear Andy-

Regarding last night's NJ Housewives Reunion show, the real question here goes to Caroline and Dina. You have accused the media of spreading vicious rumors about your family and it's alleged relationship to organized crime. Having been victimized by rumors, how could you both do the same thing to someone else? You two should have known better having gone through this and suffering the terrible consequences that unsubstantiated rumors and idle gossip can generate. It was up to you both to approach Danielle before you embarked on the same type of smear campaign that you yourselves have endured. It wasn't up to her to seek you both out. You're like the battered wives who go out and batter other women or gay men who, while hiding in the closet, bash other gay men. Speaking of this, as a gay man, bravo (no pun intended) to Andy for standing up for the gay community by calling Joe's remark offensive. It was. I wonder how Caroline's brother feels about remarks such as his.

I don't know who started the "Bubbies" thing, BRAVO? But it's
Boobies! Maybe now Andy can pronounce it correctly. OMG, Theresa, our NJ scholar, can't even pronounce cleanliness. OH! And Caroline, her supposed friend, instead of helping her out, she just sits there and laughs at her. Theresa, PLEASE, listen to me, you are friggin adorable, but, Caroline is NOT your friend. Caroline and Dina need to go. They are trying to dictate how things are going to be by lying and "rehearsing" and they are bringing Theresa down with them. Jacqueline, hang in there, you ARE the only normal one and I believe that Danielle can be a good friend. I just think that Danielle has had a terrible past regardless of whether "the book" is truth or not. She, in turn, needs a good friend like you and a little bit of guidance. And Dina, at the "flippin" dinner, you said that Danielle should stop living in the past and she was very correct in saying that her past has become very much the present because YOU brought it here. Stop letting Caroline fight your battles and stand up and fight your own. You are a grown woman. Lastly, if Caroline is a Matriarch of "anything" then I am the Queen (of the world!)

A TRUE NJ Housewife

Dear Andy,
As I sit here writing this letter, I am debating whether I should do so, but I feel I must, since it will be eating me up if I do not say anything. First off, I have to say that I was never a fan of reality TV. NJ Housewives changed that for me and it is something that I don’t like to admit. The reason why I started to watch this show is because I share a mutual friendship with one of the women on NJ Housewives. So of course, intrigued as I was, I sat and watched. Mortified, disgusted, humorous and emotional I became. Not only was I addicted, I also started to log on and read the blogs….again, not something I am proud of. The reason for this letter is because as I sat last night and watched the reunion, you asked a question if these women “represent” NJ Housewives. I instantly was annoyed because although we would all love to have the money and glamour that these women do; to sit around and get your hair done, go away for weekend spa retreats, shop freely without a care in the world, the reality is that I feel most women, most mothers in NJ, or anywhere for that matter cannot do that. The reality is waking up and trying to get your kids out the door, dressed, fed and on time for school, while running errands throughout the day, then picking up the kids in a MINIVAN…(oh no, not one of those!) to only be a chauffeur to them between baseball, soccer, and swimming lessons; to come home and have dinner ready on the table for a husband that comes home from a long day of stressful work in the finance industry praying to God that he will still have a job the next day because of this crappy economy; To go out to dinner at a fancy restaurant for a special occasion and not every Friday night. The reality is being classified as “middle class” still trying to make ends meet and budgeting your money on a daily basis, living in an OK house in an alright neighborhood. The reality is constantly calling up the Superintendent of the town in which we reside to make sure our children’s schools are clean and safe by keeping crazy drivers out of our schools parking lots.

I am a Hispanic woman with three gorgeous children, married to an Italian man. Not only does your TV show need diversity and truth behind an NJ Housewife, it needs real women fighting everyday struggles. You now have the Real Housewives of NJ, what your show needs is the TRUE Housewives of New Jersey. I invite you to come take a look at the TRUE world of soccer moms, baseball coaches, PTA Presidents, going grocery shopping with two toddlers and all things that involve being a “REAL” Housewife!

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm starting to like Danielle more and more. Everything about Caroline's statements seemed contrived and rehearsed. Dina can't think by herself...luckily big sis is always there to back her up! Teresa...SIGH...or shall I call her the 'Scarecrow' that desperately needs to find the wizard. And Jacqueline, I applaud you for speaking the truth and hope it continues.

Truth be told I was very anti-Danielle throughout the season, but with the finale and reunion p.1 she has began to make sense. She has been ganged up on for her past and a book which might very well be 90-98% fiction.

Hi Andy!

Ok sometimes I wonder if other posters are actually watching every detail in the show??? Joe was just joking he wasn't being serious... but it was all about Danielle afterwards throwing a shot a Teresa by saying to Joe something like don't talk to me like that I'm not your wife. (even my husband was like... oh no she didn't!!!!) It was all for a dramatic effect to really go at Teresa in the end... not to mention how it was ok for Danielle to say how close her knee was to his ..... after he passed his joking comment.. come on he had a smile on his face no malice was meant! And then she had to bring on the tears when brought up at the reunion!!!! Good Lord!

ALSO DID ANYONE NOTICE THE EYES ON DANIELLE DURING THE ENTIRE REUION EPISODE?? wasn't she the one that said body language tells everything? well her looks could kill. When ever anyone would discuss happy thoughts about their families she would make terrible eyes gestures (LoL you know what I mean) PAY ATTENTION as she said!!

I enjoyed watching part one of the reunion show. Andy, as a gay man I appreciate you saying that you think Joe's comment was offensive. Maybe the comment will ultimately do some good if someone realizes that even what they consider a "figure of speech" can hurt and think before they speak. Go Andy!

i love this show. i think all these woman are being completely real and i feel that Danielle deserves to have the cold shoulder. she tore a family apart and she should never have put Jacqueline in that position. she should have backed off and let Jacqueline be with her family. i feel like the only fake one was Danielle and i cant stand her always having to make drama

Andy,
Caroline getting upset about rumors was truly a double standard. She spread rumors in a hair salon where Danielle is a patron. Clearly someone repeated it. Now, she wants to complain about a rumor that started before the show started. I have never slapped my sister-in-laws face, so clearly they are not as close as they appear. Jaqueline even admitted that the problems with Dina didn't start with Danielle. Unfortunately, Caroline wouldn't let anyone respond as usual. She laughs when things upset Danielle, but we are suppose to sympathize with her drama. I think Jaqueline is the only one with a level head. Teresa pays everything in cash which is a red flag. Who carries thousands of dollars around? Why was it ok to talk about sex in front of her kids quite explicit and then ask that they be removed. She called Danielle a whore in front of her children and used them in a comment on her blog to make a derogatory statement about Danielle. She is not classy at all. At least Danielle admits she made mistakes. Dina talks about boobs in front of her mother and caroline encourages her son to have a strip club, but is angry because Danielle was said to be a stripper. There is no strip club a mother can be proud of in my opinion. Don't give him money to open the club. I hope that Danielle gets help, Caroline & Dina face reality and Teresa takes a long look at herself. What was her job before Joe and her married? It appears to be the same as Danille;looking for a rich provider.

Andy

I'm not a Danielle fan at all BUT I found the fact that the Manzo sisters took such high offense to any mention of their father-in-laws mob connected murder rumors BUT had no qualms about airing all the stuff about Danielle without any thought to her family.

Sorry, the road goes both ways and to think we're all crazy for comparing them to second rate Sopranos...boo hoo!

So. Jersey Wifey

Greetings Andy!

Firstly, you looked grrrrreat! Whatever you are doing, keep doing it. It's working for ya!

Okay, the RHONJ reunion part one: No mob connections? Palllllease! As for Dina's husband not wanting to be on the show - probably for the best since reality tv has a way of forcing people out of the closet.

I also felt like Caroline was directing a lot of anger at you which was uncalled for. They can dish it (towards Danielle) but they can't take it. Poor Jacqueline. Hopefully we won't find her face down in the Hudson one day or with cement boots on next to Uncle Jimmy! Bada-bing!

BRAVO to you for taking a stand against the "gay" word being used as a negative. Being from Jersey I'll be the first to say that its not used by EVERYONE in this state like that. Any adult using "gay" as a derogatory euphemism is promoting intolerance with not only our peers but also in our children. Knock it off Teresa! She should think more about how she can lift up her hairline so she looks less simian and Zira like. Okay, low blow but hell, she deserved it for the gay thing.

Meeeeowwww, hiss, hiss!

I loved that you said you were in an undisclosed NJ warehouse location! Too funny Andy!

teresa is so very ignorant it's embarassing. the whole gay comment her husband made, i thought, was offensive. i guess if you live in an ignorant place and surround yourself with ignorance then ignorance is bliss. there is more to life and a whole world outside that says certain comments, slurs, stereotypes, etc. are unacceptable and offensive. P.C. people! caroline and her family took great offensive to the "mob" references and connections. dina basically said it's a stereotype because they live in jersey and are italian. others might not think it was offensive to make those comments but caroline and dina took offense, does it make their feelings less valid and justified because others didn't think it was offensive? were caroline and dina just bringing "drama, drama, drama!"? the most ignorant excuse for justifying ignorant remarks is "i have friends who are ____..."! how very lame and stupid! if someone tells you they find certain comments offensive then it is and maybe you should refrain from making those types of comments to them again! it's called self controll and consideration and respect! learn that!

Andy - THANK YOU for not letting Teresa/Joe slide on the derogatory gay comment. THANK YOU!!! My closest girlfriend is gay. I get so freaking fed up with people saying "Well, everyone says it, it's a figure of speech, so it's acceptable." No, it's not. The fact that people use terms like gay, retard, or the unspeakable n-word in everyday language...no wait...not just USE the terms, but THINK in those terms...is really pathetic. Since when is it okay to let words that we "don't really mean" into our daily speech? Think before you talk, people!
I'm so proud of you for jumping in there, in a classy way, to bring the right attitude to light. Nicely played, Andy! I'm an even bigger fan of yours for your intelligence!

no offense

I hope this gets posted-

From what I have read about whether or not a comment is offensive or a joke, just shows you how insensitive people have become of others. There is no longer a social filter on people's mouths. We apparently now live in a society where is it okay to reduce oneself to name calling and then defend it with "It was just a joke, ya know a saying." But, hello double standard, Teresa gets told to "pay attention" and a table gets flipped and that is glorified as she is cute, adorable and RIGHT? Yikes, what has society become? For all those who state strongly that it was not offensive, may KARMA bless you with an offensive comment that hurts your feelings. And then . . . maybe a light bulb will go on and you get it. Because YOU are the ones who make the offensive comments with NO regard to others and play everything off as a joke or the other person is too sensitive. I hate that rude northern mentality! Insult people and then defend yourself my insulting more!

I just have to say that Danielle blaming Dina for showing the book, and refusing to believe Caroline, showed that Danielle has some serious mental issues. She is NOT the victim, She should have called them all together to discuss it when it came out if she is denying it's content. She acts as they though THEY wrote the book and blamed them. So not fair. Dina was right- she has a choice not to like Danielle and not want to hang around with her.
I always liked Jacqueline, but I was very disapointed that she defended Danielle. She was discussing Danielle behind her back with others, and then tried to come off as a saint...who needs a lunatic friend like Danielle? And the family was probably worried about Jacqueline getting in to deep with someone with a past like Danielle's.....even her current activities, sex online, meeting strangers for sex...Jacqueline- you have children. Choose a new friend! I wish Jacquline the best with her new baby and hope the family can heal. I do understand Dina's hurt feelings...they totally left out what Danielle was doing to Dina, but she talked Trash about her in every episode, so obviously, she did something to offend Dina and Dina decided Danielle was not someone she wanted as a friend. her choice. Sorry Danielle, you talk to much trash. And Jacqueline - Danielle is (sadly) not a good role model for her children- or yours. I wish Danielle the best- get some serious counseling.

How come when they showed the clip of the fight they left our a crucial part. When Caroline and Dina (mostly Dina) was denying having possession of the book Caroline quickly said basically "Enough! It was me who took that into Chateau!" Dina quickly said "Caroline" under her breath hinting "you said you weren't going to admit that!"

What's up with that? If Dina was telling the truth, why the sly "Caroline?"

Andy -

Don't be such a hyper-sensitive queen! You give us all a bad name. I don't know Joe personally and I was not offended by his comment. I'm tired of torch-bearing queens giving all gays a bad name. In spite of Andy, we're not all hyper-sensitive, mo's that get our feelings hurt every time the word gay is mentioned. In fact, this shows a sign of insecurity and immaturity.

Might I suggest counseling?

One thing I will say about these ladies...they are indeed more housewives than any of the other housewives. Women gossip, bicker, and scheme. They are no better or worse. I have always watched OC and I watched Atlanta. As much as these ladies tickle me, they are more just women living their own lives vs being actual housewives. I say BRAVO to NJ ladies!! These RealHousewives series are a barrel of fun and keep me so entertained. I get opinions, but they are just that. I don't know these ladies, and I will not admonish them publicly. If any of us were followed with cameras, we would probably fall from grace immediately. Thank you for great Tuesday night entertainment, and I wish you all well!!

Andy, I hope you consider making some changes to next year's Realhousewives of New Jersey. As much as the Manzo Family is entertaining with all drama in thier lives. I think The Realhousewives of NJ need to be more individual families. How about throwing in families of different cultural and ethic backgrounds. If Bravo would like to spin off series on Manzo extended family that would be interesting. I believe Dina and Caroline are from a family of 11. Between thier brothers, sisters and sponses families you might come up with winner. It seems Bravo made the Realhousewives of New Jersey into Soprano's. Have you consider having Realhousewives from various towns in New Jersey for a series. It seems you pick out one town to focus on.

Good luck on the next Reunion Show

Andy ...
Way to stand up for the community (I will give kudos to Danielle on it as well, drama or no drama).

My friends know that I'm gay. They have made a conscious effort to not say "that's gay" in our out of my presence. I know when they used to say it, the connotation behind it was never out of spite or to be degrading. However, they thought on their own that it wouldn't be right to perpetuate such a comment.

I know where Teresa was coming from in defending her husband. As for her friends who found the comment to be hilarious, they are allowed their view on the matter.

The ultimate thing in the end, is to respect one another even with differences in opinions.

Dear Andy:

True story. When I was watching The Real Housewives of NJ Reunion and saw your grey suit that was absolutely stunning on you I was hooked. I've seen you in past episodes and never really developed a crush. But tonight I did. So I started to look up.. you know...your info on the internet just out of curiosity...which is exactly when you were telling the housewives that you were gay. I LOVED IT! I love it when besides being a celebrity your a successful gay man who just doesn't care about what people think. Thank you.

Best,

ANDY!
Thank you for being so honest when addressing your feelings about the comment's made by Theresa's husband at the group dance class. You stuck up for yourself, me, and everyone else who felt offended by what Joe said, in a constructive way that showed it was clear Joe's comment was not meant with malice, but regardless is was still offensive and socially unacceptable. Hopefully the Housewives, and the show's audience will all be more conscious about the words they choose to use moving foward.

I was very disappointed in tonight's episode. It seemed like everyone (excluding Danielle) planned in advance what to say in tonight's episode. It's clear that Caroline and Dina are trying to craft their own image in a "reality show" and that they have convinced Jacqueline and Teresa to gang up on Danielle. Shame on Jacqueline if that is true. I think Danielle had an awkward presence about her tonight because she's been alienated. I love the Real Housewives of NY, OC and Atlanta because all the girls are, for the most part, open about their issues with each other, etc, and their lives.... NJ seems fake. The women except for Danielle appear to lie or cover for each other. And, Caroline needs to stop acting like a mob wife and then maybe people would not compare her to one.

I'll wait and see if episode two is any different, but, I have to say, I think Bravo should cancel this show and stick with the other Real Housewives series...

P.S...I'm not buying it that Dina's husband works all the time. I could care less what the real story behind that is, but she should own whatever it is and be real about her "story line" if she chooses to be an a reality show.

I thought tonight was such a disappointment...I look forward to watching, and I never watch reality T.V. because I have plenty of my own reality to deal with, being a teacher and cheer coach of three teams...maybe that could be your next reality show lol you'll really see crazy women from nj haha no, not all of the cheer parents are crazy ...just a few and let me tell you one is more than enough!!
Anyway, I have a few questions you may want to ask:
1) How could Danielle say that "she didn't start this" when she was the one who brought the book, she had to know that this was not the time nor the place to discuss her issues...she shouldn't have went to the party or saw any of them unless they sat down privately to discuss it...but she said tonight no-one wanted to. Well, probably b/c no-one cared. How selfish..it was Theresa's dinner party, kids had to be removed, other people who weren't involved had to witness it...sooo wrong
2) This wasn't the first time she caused drama at dinner...remember when she was going to break up with Steve at dinner? She said "Jaqueline and Theresa convinced her it wasn't a good idea, so she decided not to." Why does she feel it necessary to solve solutions with drama rather than logic?
3) I believe that Theresa and Jaqueline gave Danielle a chance...does she acknowledge her condescending remark to Theresa..and did she ever apologize...probably not b/c she thinks everyone owes her something
4) Caroline stated, "we are all adults here and we will act accordingly," Well in Danielle's defense, why didn't she and Dina act like adults when they discovered the book? I can see disclosing it to your family, but to people in a public setting in the town? That is like acting like a teenager when they hear something about someone...right away the rumors are out of control. Why didn't they talk to Danielle about it first...I'll tell you, once again they didn't care...they could care less about Danielle and if it would hurt her or her children, they don't like her and were relishing in the fact they found sh..t on her..lets be REAL...and if thats the case then just own up to it instead of dancing aroung the issue
5) What is going on between Jaqueline and Danielle now? Is Danielle really not coming back next season? There was a clip of Caroline crying and another clip where Danielle made reference to the fact that she has something to do with what is going on now and another about Danielle causing fighting between Dina and Chris...I could just imagine what Danielle has gotten herself into now..can't wait til tomorrow, but tonight was a little boring and not productive, in my opinion.
6) Why did Danielle lie and say only two things were true in that book, when we all saw the episode where she admitted to being a stripper..because she didn't want to admit to it in public, so why bring the book in a public setting...If you are going to expect everyone to listen and be honest, you need to be honest yourself
Great job defending the gay comment, but hpoefully we ALL learn something from this..that we need to be more conscious of whst we say and how we say it!! I still am a huge Theresa and Joe fan though....
Keep it REAL

OMG! I love these Housewife shows. I think NJ should have been longer, because it was more real. Please film these girls again, and add another housewife to be Danielle's friend. This show was amazing! I also think you need to do the Midwest, or the Southwest. We need some latinas! You have Chicago, Houston, San Antonio-Austin, Dallas-Ft.Worth, Phoenix, San Diego, and San Francisco. I also have to admit, that I have a crush on you. Its grown ever since the New York reunion, LOL. I like it when you turn you head towards the wives and smile and chuckle. Keep working out Andy, your looking good!

Andy,
I am surprised that you were offended by the gay comment but I am from Eastchester, NY and grew up with these type of girls and understood the context of the comment and they are no different from the broads that I live near now in Louisiana, just different accents. I simply watch and giggle and i am glad that I don't have children that will perpetuate the cycle. And yet, i admire them for standing up for themselves and not being afraid to put it all out there. Except for danielle, she is a reprehensible human being who needs some serious therapy.

I just watched the Housewives of New Jersey Reunion, and was so disappointed...Andy you were not in control at all, you did not ask any hard, deep questions to the ladies, it seemed as if Caroline was in charge!, Also, it was crazy how Danielle tried defending herself, each time a negative comment was made to her, and all the woman attacked her, saying she was just a dramaqueen...but its ok for the other women to defend themselves ...

Hi Andy, what a tough thing to host and my heart goes out to you. I was thrilled when you agreed that the remarks towards gay people was offensive. It certainly was and it doesn't matter if they treat it like a joke, other people don't. It was an entertaining season but after watching the first half of the reunion I've made up my mind to not watch it next season and here's why. It just isn't right or fair to put up one person against a whole family. Jacqueline has become much harder & it was obvious. Watching poor Danielle sit there ALONE & having to take the remarks and glares was unbearable. If they do another season they need to break up the family dynamics and have more outsiders on the show. It just isn't fair that Danielle was put up there alone to be attacked. So unless the dynamics changed this will be my first and last season of this version of the housewives.

Andy you are adorable :) Love how you guide the discussion. I am going to vote with an earlier comment, "Please kick Danielle off the show!!!!" She is awful, can hardly stomach her. Please let up on Teresa's hubby people! Ugh...he didn't even gear his childish comment at anybody, he wasn't trying to be mean!!! The guy is funny as hell to watch. I do get tired of living in the United States of the Offended.
Take a deep breath and save the offended energy for bullies, criminals, haters, etc...Off the soapbox. Caroline, Dina, & Teresa all have wonderful qualities and I love watching the show. I am still waiting to see what plays out with Jacqueline and Danielle, if Jacqueline hasn't distanced herself from Danielle I will be very disappointed. I am really hoping Danielle is off next round...I'll be watching for part two!! I am sorry I guess I was too old for the NY prep show, not one I will ever watch....

I was glad Danielle responded to Joe's gay comment during the dance episode. Seriously, "gaylord"??? All she said was that it was uncalled for, that it wasn't necessary. She wasn't attacking Joe at all.. The comment was offensive, but I don't think Joe meant it - he seems like a pretty laid back nice guy..

First let me say, that I would not watch next season's show if they took Danielle off. Danielle, whether you like her or not, makes the show more interesting.

Second, I think that Dina and Caroline are the biggest hypocrites. Why should anyone care about you, your family and your tears when you have so little disregard for others? What about Danielle's children? Whether you like Danielle or not, her children are innocent. I would think that both Dina and Caroline would be sensitive to that especially since both of their spouses have had to deal with their father's alleged mafia ties. Even if you do not want to give Danielle a break, give her kids one. I also find Caroline and Dina's attitudes a bit overbearing. Both Dina and Caroline put Jacqueline in a osition where she would have to choose when it should have never come to that and then they have the nerve to blame Danielle. NO! Blame yourself! I think they both gave Danielle too much power over their lives by just being too interested and engaging in juvenile gossip and vendictiveness. So, petty. Get over it and move on!

Cannot wait to see part II !!! Interesting because my favorite ladies of the show were not my favorites in the Reunion...Maybe this showed them in a different light? I really liked Theresa and the Manzo's but Theresa came off as a little inconsiderate of people and what she says. The Manzo's just further proved that they are pushy and demanding!

It kind of seems like Jacqueline may have confided in Danielle about having some issues with her family? I think its great that Jacqueline's hubby sticks by her! The Laurita's should keep the Manzo's at a distance a little bit.

I'm sorry that Caroline felt she had to share such a personal story on tv in order to prove that her family has no ties to the mob. It's incredible the ignorance that still exists & comes out of people's mouth.

I also hope that Jacqueline has truly mended her relationship w/Dina & the rest of the family. I sure would have like to hear more coming from Jacqueline's mouth.

Never in my life have I felt so bad for someone as I did Danielle. Push buttons or not she walked into a 4 against 1 and I don't think her personal life past or present is any of these ladies business. I have always loved the housewives show, but if there is a second season of this mess I will NOT watch it. It's very depressing and we watch tv for enjoinment. Caroline said her father-in-law was not mafia. There are reports on here from the police that say different. Who really cares it's what her family is now. Are they mafia.... who knows, who cares. What I care about is how mean these women have been. Hypocrites.... depressing... depressing.

Just watched part one of the reunion show! Have to say I was expecting a little more drama. Thursday's 2nd part looks to be a lot more entertaining. There were hints at the end where Dina and Caroline are directing their anger at Danielle, again, accusing her of spreading news about them. Dina says how the children in their family should have been considered. WOW did Dina or Caroline consider Danielle's children when they were having a good ole time showing the "book" around town. I think what they did was unbelievably immature and disgusting. Of course Teresa was unbelievably two faced when she showed it on air during an interview clip even while going to lunch and acting as if she was Danielle's friend. Not one person except for Jacqueline confronted Danielle to know the truth from the source. It made me laugh when Caroline said that they would have met with Danielle to discuss the book somewhere other than the dinner. I feel the bottom line is: Dina knows she is lying. Jacqueline has integrity. Caroline, although she loves and feels she has to protect her family, is doing a lot of damage. If you actually "listen" to the things Danielle says and look past her layers you will see she was just reaching out to her good friends family and even in the reunion show after everything that was done to her she was still being nice to the others and never acted improperly throughout the show.

HI,
I'm alittle flabber-gasted on what went on tonight. Why is it okay for the Manzo's sisters to bring "THE BOOK" to light. But when people brought up how Tiny Manzo was murdered "mob style" they did not like it???? Several articles do say that it was a mob style hit and he was with a Gambino. Amazing !!!!! People who live in glass houses should not throw stones, remember that Manzo girls. Teresa's kids seem like little spoiled brats. It looks like she cannot control them in a store. Now she's having another one !!!! I cannot stand when I'm in a store and the parents let the kids run around like little Indians. Control your kids it's very rude to other people shopping. I'm sure there is a real good reason why Dena's husband did not want to be on the show. Let me do alittle research on that one. Interesting.

this is my third time trying to send a blog. hopefully this site does not freeze again. I really enjoyed the jersey reunion. i do not think that it was cool for everyone to jump on danielle the way they did but hey, whateva da GODmother Caroline says, "bounce, they say how high?" out of all the housewives shows, i will have to say that there are three that i loved and kept me so close to the tube that i tboed every episode: orange county, atlanta and jersey.

nyc ladies just did not interest me at all. too ova the top. orange county: i loved gretchen cuz she had alot of heart. personally i did not think the majority of them treated her right. maybe jealous cuz she was alot younger and prettier. atlanta: liked em' all. NENE u rock! Kym u SUCK!lol, 2faced heffer.lol. Jersey: i applaud danielle for sticking up for herself and i think she holds composure very well. however, 2nite it appeared that she had taken some wellbutrin or xanax. jacqueline is a sweetheart, dina maybe sneaky but cool. she rocks as a devoted mother and interior designer. theresa was cool until she made the scene at the dinner. that was so out of character for her, even dina was suprised at the ghetto bitch that came out of her.lol, maybe it was hormones... Caroline appears to very outspoken and appears to be very controlling but what i like about her is she has her familys' back no matter what. I can not wait until part 2. hopefully one day, they will be able to look back on all this drama; live, laugh and love. quit treating danielle as an outsider because she has a past and does not have a husband. best of luck to teresa and jacqueline on their pregnancies, they appear to be very nurturing parents. may God provide many fruits to the garden.

This IS america, every race, gender and sexual preferance will be mocked and you have all enjoyed a chuckle or two at someone elses expence at one point or another. Stop being hypocritical.

On one hand my heart goes out to Dina, Caroline and all of the family who were victims of murder. Dina made a very good point that it is the grandchildren who never even knew their grandpa who suffer most. On the other hand, these are things we all think about before we go on TV, seek public office, give a story to the newspaper, throw stones at others' glass houses. If you have skeletons (Danielle, etc.) own up first and get the upper hand or expect the sensationalist viewers and yellow journalists (are there any others these days?) to make the most of it. I will say that I now understand the fervor with which Caroline defends the whole family. What a great lioness you are!

Theresa's husband's "gay" comment was wrong. Period. Would you call a mentally disabled person a "retard" in this day and age? Yes, we are all human but you do not have that luxury once you strap on that microphone. Words hurt and words magnified over the media reflect on their speakers. I am glad Joe was hurt only so that he can drop that word from his lexicon. Afterall, Danielle, you slurred every "wife" with your remark too and it WAS rude. Neither you nor Joe were thinking before you spoke. And if you can't take the heat, please, for goodness sake, Danielle SCRAM out of the kitchen. Sadly, Bravo will never find a better antagonist so thanks for the season but it is time to move on. Danielle, get a job and stop insulting all the other working women in the world who are single mothers who have been arrested and cope. Just be honest on your application about your arrest and you CAN get a job. Otherwise, maybe your next show should be "How to Marry a Millionaire". There must be ONE man out their who wants to "rescue" you but I wouldn't have him.

Theresa is a classy, faboulous, Italian mother of the 21st century. She is a fiesty Italian who stands by her man. She should get her own reality show. It should focus on her new baby, gorgeous girls. Everyone should leave Danielle alone. Dina and Caroline are jealous of Jacqueline either for marrying their brother or for some other reason. Dina and Caroline need to get a life and raise their daughters. Dina should be teaching her daughter how to maintain a household instead of a maid. Caroline should stay out of her sons life and instill real values in her daughter. If Dina and Caroline didn't care about the book, they shouldn't have brought it up. Dina and Caroline are real shady b**ches!

You ladies rock! I loved this season. Caroline- you're a great person, sure you most likely lied about the book to protect Dina, but hey, that's family. Dina- you're sweet, sure you may talk noise and allow your big sister to protect, but I would too, live well, by the way and every family has its secrets. Danielle- I'm sorry but you know the way you chose to handle the book was wrong, find peace in your life and it will get better. Teresa- ride or die, I love you, you take care of your children and obviously you take of your husband too. Jacqueline- you are truly a good person, you have a good heart and you speak up and you stand by what's right, you have to respect that. Good Luck to you and your family.

Hi
I'd like to know why people think that these women have ties with the mafia? I have watched every season of The Soprano's and I see no connection what so ever to New Jersey Housewives. Are people making these comments because they are Italian women? I am an Italian-American and i take offense to these comments. Everytime an Italian-american is depicted on TV , its assumed that they have mob connections. Just as YOU found the gay comment OFFENSIVE, I found these comments offensive. I seee no reason to why you even have to ask these LAW OBYDING women questions about the mafia.

Okay, okay...part of me feels foolish for getting hooked, but I AM hooked! I love these women! Danielle is the most repelling at this point...but she is an integral part.
Teresa is just wonderful - her light shines beyond her surface beauty - she is a lovely soul and a pleasure to watch
Caroline - c'mon! she ROCKS!!! She is stellar...a true down to earth Beauty!!! I wish she had been my mom!
Dina - okay, she wears blonde very well - she's a beauty...she's the epitomy of "The Youngest sibling" and I mean that in a fully complimentary fashion. She is Venusian for sure!
Jaqueliene (sp?) - how can anyone dislike her? She, too is lovely.
Danielle - past is past. She is a vixen and I am wondering if she is a Leo? For she seems to thrive on attention - drama, for sure! Still, the show wouldn't be the same without her...

Summary: I swore off "regular" television...yet, I have enjoyed these beautiful, true women, 100%
I admire each of them for their unique fabulous womanhood - and thank them for the entertainment, enjoyment, hope (for lack of a more appropro term) and warmth.
"REAL" ---> totally (if it's all production, etc. you still fooled me)
We can expect another season, yes???

Ps. just curious, what astro signs ARE they?
