Andys Blog

Good morning everybody. It's a humid rainbox here, so that's fun.

I thought the intern/Vicki video was amusing, but it begs some followup. First of all, we need to discuss Anthony's shooting style. He is very tall and occasionally favors the "from above" style that accentuates simply fitting everyone in the shot vs seeing their faces. We have discussed and look forward to new camera angles soon, and let's all (note to self) keep in mind that Anthony's day job is not "director." Cheers, Anthony!

So the remaining question is whether Brianna left NYC having made a love connection with either Bravo intern (and great sport) Josh or "Real Kid of NJ" Albie. The answer is that Brianna is still single and nobody got hurt.

Many people commented yesterday having watched "Top Chef Masters" and wondering where Tom and Padma were. The answer is that they are in "Top Chef"-land but will appear on TCM. Tom is actually a producer of the show and was very involved in its development and execution. We purposefully morphed Judge's Table into a Critic's Table because chefs do not love judging their colleagues, and it seemed like the logical move. It also allowed us to devise a transparent star-system, which is familiar turf for our critics.

Speaking of food (and I kind of was), if you haven't been to Minetta Tavern then you're going to want to. Order either the roasted chicken or cote du boeuf. I promise.

This blog stinks. I have work to do! Have a good weekend.

Hello Andy,
Not sure how much clout you have with Bravo but here goes.
Why did they do NYC PREP? Considering the state of the economy. Why would Bravo slap people in the face who are laid off, lost their jobs, home, money, and pensions, to watch a bunch of kids living off their parents money. I for one am VERY insulted. These kids need to concentrate on school and how they are going to earn their own money.
And what is up with their eyes?
Really disappointed that Bravo wasted film, time, and money on this show.
Want to waste more money on Bravo? Do a show about Grandparents just retired in this economy, who are not rich, and are surviving. Not these BRATS.

Hi, Andy,

I just love Housewives of New Jersey. Being a granddaughter of an Italian grandmother whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from Italy, I can relate to the values of that these women have: Family first; loyal housewife and good mother to her children, strong-minded and independent.

I would just love to be a guest on the show. Have you ever considered including any episodes whereby a mother from outside of New Jersey visits these housewives and their families. I think that it would be fun as well as interesting, especially if the one visiting is also Italian, shares similar values, yet is from a less lavish lifestyle. I am from Montana. My grandmother's family live in the New Jersey area, although I have never have had the opportunity to visit them.

Just thought I'd ask (smile). Thank you for considering.

Bravo finally got it right with the housewives of New Jersey - these are real women, leading real lives.
I love the franchise but got very tired that the OC and NY appeared scripted, over the top, catty, and more like infomercials than a reality tv show.

Please stop Bethanny and Tamra from commenting about the other shows, i.e.: New Jersey. They sound jealous or too negatively opinionated. No one cares what they think and they need to look to themselves first and choose their words carefully before picking on others. NJ gals appear to be more real than they are in their reality show/world!

Hey Andy,

I actually preferred Top Chef Masters over the amateur version. Here the mood was relaxed and respectful. All the chefs were good natured and good sports. All the critics were kinder in their comments. I did wonder if their star rewards were peer oriented because they were so consistent. Perhaps they could submit their stars on paper and then added to the rest of the scores.

This show is like Celebrity Apprentice & Iron Chef in one.
At least the chefs' motivation is less for themselves and more for the greater good (their charities).
The first show was a surprising pleasure. It did make me very hungry, though...

My favorite parts of the RHOC lost footage is when you try to mediate between the housewives. I totally dig when you keep saying to them in the calm-keep-the-kindergarteners-quiet-in-the-restaurant tone of voice, "Stop, stop, stop, stop. Let's not do this." Hehehehe :-)

Andy - I love TC Masters. NJ is okay but would like to see more drama and they didn't have many episodes. I'm ready for RHNYC to come back and OC. You're the best. Need to have a RW of Dallas. That could be interesting....

I had to chuckle watching your video with Vicki.
I find that when I am chatting with someone I don't like but I have to be nice to- for business reasons, then I go over -board in my being friendly in hopes of covering up my dislike for them.
I could tell that is what you were doing in your conversation with Vicki.
Good job- I am in sales and have to do this on a regular basis- acting comes in handy.
Also, funny -when asked about Michael and work- her comment was "he plays video poker and wears Louis Vuitton ties" obviously diverting the subject.
Then when asked about her Love Tank and Don- she quickly discusss the "expensive ring her gave her"
Who said the OC girls were materialistic?

Andy! I'm a West Coast girl, but please let's through out the "OC Housewives"!!! The East Coast ladies are AWESOME! My daughter & I are so enjoying THE JERSEY GIRLS...except Danielle. If she's drowning & needs saving. She seriously needs to get off her sorry ass and work...and honey, I don't mean sexting, phone sex & giving BJ's for a living. Please! Does she posses any marketable skills?
I love the rest of the group. Caroline breaks it down for you, just as I do. No BS all family, biz, & fun! Forget the haters and those who are so embarrased about behaviors of the NJ Wives. If it's so bad...why in the hell are watching?!!!

Andy! Does your head hurt from the sorry attitudes, drama, & laughter?

Bravo...consider cancelling the contracts of Danielle (NJ), Kelly (NY)& the complete OC show!

Got to love it or change the channel. Let's keep it REAL!

Hello Andy, I like the NJ housewifes. There should be an african american women on this set. We need a Real Housewife's in the middle states. Say like Chicago?

Hi Andy ~

I watched the Lost Footage of OC and The Fashion Show last night. It was good seeing the ladies again and seeing a different side of Jeana and Lynn. I was glad to see Lynn speak up for a change and to see Jeana finally reach her limit. Tamara is a spitfire and doesn't tolerate any crap from Gretchen or anyone else. Nice to see you try to get them to stop all the bickering after the lunch break. All in all, a good show.

The Fashion Show - ehh, not so good, as usual. But I'll let my previous comments stand. Kelly was especially irritating and haughty. Do you ever read Tom and Lorenzo's blog? They really do an excellent job of recapping Bravo shows and the comments? Totally honest great observations and no butt kissing.

Have a nice weekend,
Toodles, Jilly

What does Gretchen mean by "her story". Do they segment producers script the "reality" of these shows?

Andy - I think Tamra is jeolous of Greshen that is why she picks on her. Another comment, why was Tamra answering her phone and texting some guy at 1AM; shouldn't she be cuddle up under her hubby Simon. Next, the way I see OC girls - Tamra is one foot away from trailer life; Vicki is wacko. BRAVO; please replace those two women. RHWNJ is boring, Teresa hubby with all the wads of money seems a awkward. Aren't there any banks in NJ

Andy,
Love the real housewives of New Jersey so refreshing to see mature women who focus on their family not selling their wares (more than one meaning there)
HA HA- Vicki and Carolyn mother in laws- finally get to see a much deserved smack down of Vicki-
Brianna could only be so lucky to marry into Carolyn's great family and get rid of hers.

I liked the new Top Chef Masters show. Love Hubert on Top Chef Masters!! He is so sweet, funny, and talented and none of the pomp and circumstance like some of the other top chefs and masters. He is really into his own creative nature of cooking without being overly competitive.. A true master in his own right. I loved how he was the only one who knew just how to please the children critics and make the food kid friendly/appealing while still making great tasting food!! I loved your tape of the interview with Vicky and Briana. The interns had some very good questions. You were quite the matchmaker. Glad Briana did not hook up with Albie. He's really not her type. Vicky would freak if she had to deal with the Manzo family!!!

Hey Andy, Happy Friday!

Love TCM, very well done. As for RHNJ, sigh! I just can't get into. I tried, but just can't.

Have a good weekend..

Hi Andy

Congrats on Top Chef Master. Loved the food critics. Loved the Chef's reaction to Gael Greene. It was clear she can stike fear in the heart of even the most vaulted. Thought the format was fun and fast. Loved the chefs watching the Girl Scouts critique their work. I am sure it was an eye opener for them. Being as high up as they are in their profession, that kind of unfiltered feedback must have been priceless to them.

Andy...I agree w/ all - you are awesome!! I do want you to one day ask Simon of "Real Housewives of OC" how hard Tamra has to work to keep him in love with her. Those botox injections and breast augmentations looks like they hurt & you can tell from her expressions.

Andy -

When is Flipping Out coming back? My love affair with Bravo began when the last season of Flipping Out ended, and my bf and I loved the reunion show with Jeff and Zoila. But with all these shows coming up NYC PREP and Housewives of DC... isn't there anything new and different to show?

I went to the culinary school on 23rd Street and we always talked about starting a reality show based upon the backend of that school... scandalous things would go on. Food Network, I think, did some boring and bland version of what we were thinking of. No drama. I think Bravo could spin it in a more interesting, and real light. Think Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential" book.

Have a great day!

Andy - The Real Housewives of New Jersey are kind of boring. The best parts are Caroline's family interacting and busting on each other. Those seem real, funny and interesting in a way the rest of the show does not. Why not a show just about them? Probably not as much drama but there's a hell of a lot more humor (which is an end unto itself).

Andy -- LOVE LOVE LOVE Top Chef Masters (and you too, btw!) This show is fantastic and the chefs were so funny and professional. Loves it! I am crushing on Hubert! He's such a gentleman and doesn't take himself too seriously...not to mention his talent!!!

So happy to have this type of show to watch on Bravo as opposed to the usual tearing each other down, cussing, accusing, fame-whoring that goes on on other shows.

Bravo!
