I have to thank Oprah Winfrey for giving me a spectacular evening of entertainment last night.

It started with Precious at the AMC 25 on 42nd Street. On the one hand, I don't want to overhype the movie because it won't be as good as I say. But on the other, it was freaking great. And the performances are spectacular. Mo'Nique and Gabourey Sidibe are beyond the beyond. And Mariah Carey is understated and fantastic! And it's a story that doesn't get told enough. And Mariah had a mustache.

I met Gabourey Sidibe the TODAY Show greenroom on Monday morning and she proved to me what an incredible actress she is because she is NOTHING like "precious" in terms of her speech, mannerisms, or appearance. She really transformed herself. She's a Watch What Happens Live fan so we're trying to get her on the show.

Before the film, there were trailers for five Oscar-bait movies about Mandela, Queen Victoria, and one Jim Sheridan film, and another by Almodavor, but the only one the audience reacted to was a new Tyler Perry movie. It was funny! (CRICKETS for the others...)

After the movie we went to break down the movie at the always classic post-theater spot Joe Allen (I was with legendary Broadway director Joe Mantello) and ran into one of my guests on tonight's Watch What Happens Live, funnylady and SNL Veteran Rachel Dratch. Rachel is a big BravoLover and we're going to have fun tonight. My other guest is Mariah Carey's co-star in Glitter, Padma Lakshmi. Oh yeah, Padma hosts Top Chef, too.

When I got home I ran to my DVR to play Oprah's interview with the Monkey Lady. WOW. I don't totally know what to say except that it was an amazing show and it made me love Oprah so much. Who else would you want to sit down with if something horrible happened? And of course I loved the Monkey Lady and I DID SEE her inner beauty.

I will say that while I thought Oprah was beyond compassionate, she was rubbing salt in her (formidible) wounds by telling her eight times how shocking she looked and how people weren't going to be able to look at her. I think she was just trying to speak for what the viewer was thinking, but maybe it was one too many times. I am quibbling here, but it did cross my mind.

See you live at Midnight.

Andy, I saw "Precious" with some good friends over the weekend and I was moved to tears! Mo'nique was incredible as was Gabourey Sidibe, she moved me in one scene during which the entire theater was silent. Mariah was just as you said, understated and fantastic and may I also add intense. Lenny Kravitz was good also; he's a cutie too. OMG, Oscar worthy performances for Mo'nique and Gabourey! I am still emotional! Love, love, love "Precious"!

I don't understand why Jeana Keough is leaving the show. The Real Housewives of OC will definitely lose viewers. Jeana is above the petty drama and represents the voice of reason. More viewers identify with her than any of the other lady's. In this time of financial uncertainty, we embrace that the real estate market has turned and her income cut. Please bring the realist of housewives back. If we want low class drama we'll watch Jerry Springer.

Andy, So many people don't want Jeana of OC to leave. She's the only normal one. Can't you do something? As much as i like Oprah and she did a good job in a very difficult situation, I'd want Bonnie Hunt to interview me.Have you ever met her? I would love to see you have her on your show. She's so underrated. She's so funny and so kind and nice and so down to earth. I love her.and Love you too .

Hey Andy,
I thought your comments about the sneezing girl were a bit harsh-she is a child-
let's not lose sight of that. It was suggested by Dr. Nancy Snyderman on the
Today show that perhaps the young lady in question might be suffering from
Tourette's Syndrome and truly, that is a disease that has no humor attached.
Remember-she's just a child.
Yours truly,
A fan

Hi Andy--she isn't "the monkey lady"...I'm sure you don't mean to, but it is quite insensitive--obviously she didn't ask for this to happen to her and the fact that you reacted (rightfully so) to Oprah's constant statement of her looks shows me you have more compassion than what is shown in referring to her in that way...Love the blog and you--just remember, real life isn't always looking for a catch phrase...thanks

Andy, I too was moved by Charla Nash's story. God bless her and her family. I saw on the Today Show a brief clip of the chimp's owner and how unrepentent she seemed about the havoc wreaked by the chimp. I am always in shock of how people place animal life over human life. People like that have a missing gene. It's awful. I am going to see "Precious" as well this weekend. Thanks for the review. Stay cute!

Andy, what is up with the casting of the DC wives? Why isn't Bravo casting a more diverse cast? I am very disappointed.

Andy, I saw the movie with you at AMC last night and I could not agree more with your comments. This movie is really thought provoking and the performances were dead on ! I can't stop thinking about the young girls who truly live this situation out every day. On another note, I yelled a "hello" to you outside of the theatre and I think you should have a "fan " on Watch what happens every now and then. These are all my favorite shows that you cover so I want to be the first volunteer ! keep up the great work

Andy - totally agree with you about Oprah. She did state 1 or 2 or 5 too many times how shocking the Monkey Lady's appearance was. The woman stressed that she didn't want to know all of the damage so I think it was a bit insensitive for her to carry on about it. It was definitely a great interview but Oprah needed to check herself (Boo) on her belaboring of the point.

You are the best Andy! Love you!

Hi Andy, Please don't call Charla Nash the monkey lady. That's so mean and I don't think you meant it to be. I was totally depressed about my financial and health situation, then I saw this brave and wonderful lady.I can't imagine how much she suffered and is suffering. She lost so much. I hope she can get help and have a normal face. She lost her sight ,her ability to eat normally, and lost her hands.I hope she gets millions to ease her journey through life. Why can't people leave wild animals in the wild. God forbid this should ever happen again.I won't bitch and complain about my problems anymore. Makes you count your blessings, doesn't it!Love you Andy.
