George Clooney may be practically perfect, as far as celebrities go. However, you can take solace in the fact that you probably knew about the news that Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt before George did.
CNN's Richard Roth was the bearer of bad news when the reporter caught up with George at the United Nations in New York where he was attending a roundtable with President Obama on the refugee crisis. So to be fair, celeb news was not at the top of his mind.
When George, who is Brad's longtime friend and his Ocean's Eleven co-star, was initially asked for his thoughts on Brad and Angelina, he said, "What happened?"
After the reporter clarified that Brad and Angelina had filed for divorce, George's face dropped. "I didn't know that. Wow," he said. "I feel very sorry then. That's a sad story and unfortunate for a family. It's an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear that. That's the first I've heard of it."
We feel your pain, George.
George and Brad's friendship has spanned years since they first shared the screen in 2001's Ocean's Eleven. They've also appeared together in the franchise's two subsequent films, 2004's Ocean's Twelve and 2007's Ocean's Thirteen, and the 2008 Coen Brothers film Burn After Reading.
Angelina filed for divorce from Brad after two years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ. She's asking for physical custody of the couple's six children and visitation but not joint physical custody for Brad. Angelina is not asking for spousal support.
