This season of The Bachelorette has started with a real bang. (Er, "wha-boom," we guess.) Only two eppys in and we've already met multiple men who are clearly on set for the wrong reasons, and even one that straight-up lied about having a girlfriend when his girlfriend was standing right there.
But there is one guy who has already won Rachel's heart—and with silky auburn hair and big brown eyes, he is hands-down the most handsome bachelor we have ever seen. We are talking, of course, about Copper the dog.
When Rachel told Peter that their solo date had become a two-on-one, we literally shouted at the TV, "THE OTHER DATE BETTER BE YOUR DOG," and lo and behold, ABC did not disappoint. Copper bounded out of his doggy limo—paw in cast—and leapt into Rachel's arms and, effectively, our hearts.
The sweet doggo, who appears to be some kind of shepherd mix, apparently injured his paw "jumping off of something" prior to the season's filming (per Rachel).
After Copper sustained his injury, Rachel knew she couldn't leave him in Dallas during filming. As she wrote in her blog on PEOPLE, "Copper was involved in an accident that left one bone in his little paw broken. I knew I wouldn’t be able to focus on finding love if I left the most important piece of my heart back in Dallas. So right before the guys showed up I flew back, had his furry leg wrapped in a cast, and booked us both first class seats back to California. Truth is I needed him to comfort me as much as he needed me." Aww!
After making nice with Rachel's date Peter, Copper joined the couple on their private jet to Palm Springs for Bark Fest, a pup party sponsored by Bark Shop. (You can buy their Bachelorette-themed dog toys on their site, natch.)
The whole event was so adorable that we almost forgot we were watching a dating competition show. But Twitter was quick to remind us:
Here's hoping for many more appearances from Copper—and let's pray that whomever proposes to Rachel sends her beloved pupper in with the ring!
