Call me old school, but I miss the art of a handwritten note. A text message is fine when I’m on the go or if I have funny GIF to share, but when it comes to really showing someone I care, nothing beats a letter. The truth is, I actually dread going to my mailbox. Ask my husband. I literally don’t go. Because when I do without fail I find bills, catalogues and take-out menus.

But then, every once in awhile, I stumble upon a nice envelope amongst the pile of junk. You know the one—smaller than most, normally any color but white, made of good quality paper. Without fail when I see my mom’s handwritten note, sent just because she’s thinking of me, I instantly feel better. She could have called, she could have sent me a text (well, let’s be honest, she actually did both of those things), but she still took the time to write me a note. And for that I love her.
