Everyone Is Freaking Out Over These $30 Birkenstocks...And For Good Reason

They're baaaack.

If you’re like me, the sight of Birkenstocks transport you directly back to the the ’90s. I wore the classic two-strap Arizona every single day in middle school and beyond—even with socks during the winter…cringe, I know. But you guys, everyone was doing it!

Fun fact, however: The brand has actually been cobbling together shoes since the late 1800s, and while I may have ditched them at the turn of the century, many people did not. That’s right, Birkenstock is still here and get this—they’re cool again. Like unicorns, Steve Madden slinkys, and high-cut swimsuits, the hippie dippie suede and leather slide is currently en fuego amongst fashion and celebrity types. While the Arizona has been spotted on everyone from Jessica Alba and Naomit Watts—it’s also $100.

Which is why the Madrid Slide, part of the brand’s rubber “Essentials” collection, is causing an something of an uproar. Because it only costs 30 bucks. Yes, really. And with only one slim strap, the slides are super lightweight and waterproof and um, perfect for SUMMER. And for the beach and pool and lake or wherever else you’re headed. Nordstrom’s is the main retailer, but their color selection is limited, so I’ve also included links below to Amazon where a virtual rainbow of hues are on offer—but many without free Prime shipping. Boo, I know. Also below are the two other “Essentials,” the all-rubber Eva and Gizeh, which both retail for $35. At that price I’m pretty much here to tell you that you need all three.
