Brittany Snow's Stylist Shares Cold-Weather Fashion Tips Straight From Sundance

You can wear a trench coat all winter long.

Talk about switching gears. Park City, Utah’s Sundance Film Festival is smack-dab in the middle of red carpet awards season, which means stars have to suddenly trade in their strappy sandals for sturdy snowboots.

It’s a fashion challenge celeb stylist Lindsey Dupuis Bledsoe is more than happy to take on — especially since an après-ski look is such a departure from sunny La La Land.

“In LA we don’t often get a chance to play with layers, so it’s a nice change of pace to create looks with stylish sweaters and jackets,” Lindsey tells The Lookbook. And do her fashionable clients must relish the chance to leave the heels at home for once? “Absolutely, but they trade the red carpet for icy streets, so I always make sure the shoe is comfy and secure for the terrain,” she says.

Lindsey just helped put together looks for Brittany Snow’s trip to Sundance for the premiere of the stars new action thriller Bushwick. We asked the fashion pro to share her tips for dressing stylishly, even in frigid temperatures. Here's what she had to say:

Turns out celebs have winter packing woes too. Lindsey’s all about outerwear that can mix and match for Sundance, for space-saving purposes. “Packing can be a challenge since warm clothes tend to be bulky, so we try to zero in on 2 or 3 solid jacket options that can be mixed in with multiple outfits,” she says.

Try this trick to wear a trench coat all winter long. Parkas aren’t your only option: one of the coats Brittany wore for Sundance had a secret weapon for staying toasty. “Trench coats are timeless—I was able to find a warm version [from Mackage] that had a layer of down inside. So, though it may appear lighter than the average Sundance jacket, it was cozy and warm for the weather."

You can still get your personal style across, even if you’re all bundled up. Lindsey wants to make sure Brittany’s Cali-style always comes across, even if she's dressed like a Sundance snow bunny. “Even though the weather called for warm clothing, I wanted her to feel like herself,” Lindsey explains.

“There are plenty of ways to incorporate personal style [into a winter wardrobe],” she says. “For Brittany, it was adding in a vintage band tee under one of her jackets. Over-the-knee boots, your favorite hat, or that scarf you have been wanting to show off are all great ways to customize your look.” That’s timely advice: you can scoop up those accessories at a big discount, now that scarves and boots and other winter items are on major sale.
