Coachella’s Coolest Party Is About to Blow Up Palm Springs’ Insiders-Only Hotel

For how popular Palm Springs has become in recent years, it still maintains the air of intrigue and mystery associated with its midcentury heyday as Hollywood’s tony destination for escapism. Gorgeous hotels in vintage styles — like the Instagram goldmines Parker Palm Springs and Avalon Palm Springs — still feel insidery, even in spite of their popularity.

Perhaps the most totally secret-feeling spot hiding in plain view all along has been the Korakia Pensione. The hotel is comprised of two neighboring villas: one Moroccan and one Mediterranean. No two rooms are alike at the evocative haunt, where afternoons are spent lounging over Moroccan tea service, and lanterns and fire-pits flicker in the evenings alongside pools and classic and foreign films projected outside during hot, sultry summer nights. It’s a scene right out of your sexiest desert wanderlust dreams. People who know stay at the Korakia... and all others miss out.

But the hotel is about to gain major name recognition when photos from this year’s coolest Coachella party hit the Internet.

The weekend long event series is called the Retreat, and it’s set to take over the whole hotel this weekend. The private event — true to its name — is meant to be a relaxing getaway from the craziness of the festival (and its other parties).

Guests will come for fancy culinary treats from The FareTrade, plus posh spa services — including male grooming from Baxter Finley Barber & Shop.

For the most L.A.-crowd-meets-Coachella beverage bar ever, Black Fuel Coffee will provide the party fuel, which floral-crowned guests will down with healthy fresh juices from Clover Pressed Juice, Healthade Kombucha, and Harmless Harvest coconut water.

The party will also have a so-called “culture room,” with an eclectic selection of vintage and contemporary records, as well as art and books.

Vanity Fair will have an on-site studio where photographer and artist Brantley Gutierrez will capture the party’s uber-VIPs in a relaxed, intimate setting, and VanityFair.com will feature the portraits.

And that’s around the time the Korakia’s cover will be officially blown.
