Cocktails are a full-body experience, best enjoyed with every one of our five senses. Here at The Feast, we don't just love the way cocktails taste and smell and feel in our hands. We also like hearing the sound the ice cubes make as they clink against the glass, and sometimes we just like to sit and stare at a beautiful cocktail—even if it's just on Instagram (until we can get our hands on the real thing). Here, 5 Instagram accounts that pay proper homage to one of life's ever-enduring pleasures: A gorgeous, glistening, perfectly mixed drink.
James Beard Award-winning Punch magazine's Instagram feed doesn't just show us row after row of crave-worthy cocktails. Its drink images evoke a striking sense of place, as in this shot of the Tex-Mex Michelada from Austin's ever-cool Hotel San José. Inspired by a cocktail pic on Punch's Instagram? Find the recipe on its site.
Tales of the Cocktail, an annual New Orleans event that attracts booze innovators from around the world, uses its Instagram feed to show off the most stunning, inventive drinks from all over, like the mesmerizing White Elephant above (via bartender @ClaireSprouse). Find out how to make it here.
This magazine and cocktail site's name says it all: Imbibe. Don't mind if we do. The Instagram feed isn't just full of glorious drinks we want to mix up immediately, like the Strato cocktail above, made with Fernet, cold-brew coffee, simple syrup and cream (the recipe is on the site); you'll also find fabulous food pics strewn here and there, because you've got to eat sometimes too, right?
Two of our favorite words—"stir" and "strain"—unite in cocktail writer Elana Lepkowski's beautiful Instagram account. Curious about the drink above? It's the Pisco Kid, a spicy (and vegan) take on the Peruvian classic, and you can find the recipe for it on her site, aka her "cocktail scratchpad."
Take one look at Tuxedo No. 2's Instagram and you'll have absolutely no questions about what they're up to. Every single image in the grid is a cocktail close-up. No food, no people, no interior bar shots. Just cocktails, each one more spectacular than the next. That drink up there? It's the High Divide, described this way: It's "like living in the boreal #forest, but fewer icicles in your nose holes." Sold.
