When I was I little girl, I wanted more than anything to be a flower girl. Maybe it was my 90’s Disney Princess-packed upbringing or my love of playing dress up or even the promise of a captive audience of “awwww”-ers. No matter, I spent my childhood waiting for my moment on the aisle to arrive. The girlfriends and boyfriends of older cousins were on the receiving end of some pint-sized pressure, while the chosen ones of weddings where I was a mere guest were victims of my envious stare and petal-throwing critiques. If you asked 7-year-old me, being a flower girl was as big an honor as winning the school talent show or becoming a big sister. Needless to say, I was obsessed.
As it turns out, thanks to my small and apparently commitment phobic family members, my time to shine on the aisle expired and I never got to fulfill my little lady duty as flower girl in chief. To this day, watching the littlest member of the bridal party descend the aisle is still my favorite part of a ceremony and you will certainly hear some hearty aww’s from my seat.
