Dog Beer at the Bar is the New Cat Wine on Your Couch

For the more social human that likes to drink with their pet.

Awhile back, we told you all about Apollo Peak Wine, the animal-friendly booze for those of us who like to sit at home and drink with our pets (which technically counts as not drinking alone).

Turns out there is a whole demographic of non-agoraphobes who want to drink with their dogs while out and about at the local bar—and one special pub, The Hopwater Cellar, has got them covered (if they happen to be in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England).

I had to get Lola to be a beer model for me today. As you can see, it went well. 😂

The Cellar’s landlord Craig Armstrong told the Daily Express, “You see people down at the pub giving their dogs beer and it’s no good for them.” So he started stocking Snuffle Dog Beer, a canine-friendly booze made from malt barley extracts, mineral oils, vitamin B and chicken or beef flavoring. “I haven’t tried it myself,” said Armstrong, “but one customer told me it was similar to gravy.” Mmmm!

Another happy customer!

The Hopwater Cellar has long been a dog-friendly establishment, but since their introduction of Snuffle Dog Beer (about $3 a pint, but served in a bowl, natch), it’s become the go-to for dog owners and their pups. In fact, canines now number among their regulars! But Armstrong says that no matter how many dogs show up, they’re always on their best behavior. (Probably because they know if they’re good, they’ll get a cold beer?)

Another happy customer!

Sounds like it’s time to take a trip across the pond with our pups!
