In the past decade or so, food trucks have been cropping up all over the place. No longer are they signifiers of sad lunches or tainted street meat—in fact, they have gone so gourmet that many such trucks have lines that rival restaurant waits.
Cities like New York, Austin, Miami, and Seattle now have designated al fresco food truck parks, and food trucks' popularity has landed them on episodes of Top Chef (and even resulted in their own reality show called The Great Food Truck Race).
So it was only a matter of time before the recent popularity of food trucks colluded with the permanent popularity of dogs. A spate of dog food trucks means there are now dispensaries dishing out dog meals and dog biscuits on-the-go—just in case you ever find yourself on walkies without—and they’re taking over the country.
First came Fido to Go: Chicago's premier “gour-mutt” food truck serving hand-crafted, gluten and allergen-free canine cookies & doggy ice creams and frozen yogurts.
Then came Bow-Wow Bones: Austin’s first mobile food truck for dogs, featuring a variety of healthy, preservative-free “Travelin’ Treats.” They even host their own “Yappy Hour” that functions as a doggy meet-up!
And now comes the Good Stuff Pet Truck which goes one step beyond dog food on-the-go: it also offers tips and tricks for positive reinforcement in dog training, as well as education about the healthy (and not-so-healthy) ingredients you should be keeping an eye on in your pet’s food. (And just like many human nutrition trends, there is a big push to go grain-free.)
While many dog food trucks are city-specific, The Good Stuff Pet Truck is traveling the nation before settling down. If you want to take your pupper to experience the joys of the food truck scene, you can peep their travel schedule here.
