In a horrifying story of animal abuse, a dog was discovered left for dead in a dumpster behind a shopping center in Raytown, Missouri. Although the dog was miraculously saved, she’s in such bad shape that the animal rescue cannot even identify what breed she is.
The rescue staff at Midwest Animal ResQ hopes to have more information soon, but at present, the dog has a litany of health concerns: open wounds on her body, mange, secondary skin infections, and blood loss. Still, the rescuers have named her Iris, because they have high hopes she will recover and blossom.
Midwest Animal ResQ is offering a $5,000 reward for information about Iris’ abuser that can lead to an arrest. “It’s been proven that there’s a link between cruelty to animals and cruelty to human beings,” says ResQ’s president, Erin Morse. “So even if you are not an animal lover, cruelty like this should be concerning.”
In the meantime, dozens of generous souls have donated money to assist with Iris’ medical care. If you’d like to help, please visit Midwest Animal ResQ’s Facebook page.
