Cronut Inventor Dominique Ansel's Christmas Morning Cereal Is What We Want to Find Under the Tree

Snap, crackle and pop never tasted like this.

When we finally drag ourselves out of bed on a lazy holiday morning, we're only capable of feeding ourselves in one of two ways: Either we make a mindlessly easy breakfast, or we get someone else to serve us a meal worth waking up for. Pastry chef Dominique Ansel's brilliant Christmas Morning Cereal is the best of both worlds. His crunchy and sweet chocolate-hazelnut-meringue-puffed-rice mix is basically just cereal, so there's only light assembly required: Just add milk, or yogurt or even ice cream. But eating a bowl is also like having one of the world's most renowned pastry chefs whip up a fabulous holiday breakfast for you.

Ansel makes the cereal with puffed rice coated in Valrhona Caramelia (caramelized milk chocolate) and mixes in smoked-cinnamon Mini Me’s (miniature meringues) along with whole candied hazelnuts. Frankly, you don't even need milk for this: Just eat it straight out of the box. We won't tell.

You can order the Christmas Morning Cereal online at or pick it up at Dominique Ansel Bakery in Soho, NYC. The price? $15.50 per box.

But it's the holidays, right? It's not like you're going to settle for plain old cornflakes.
