Emmys 2016: The 12 Most Stylish Stars of the Night

From Kerry Washington in sexy black to Padma Lakshmi in glittering sequins.

By Jenny Berg

It's not fall yet, and the red carpet at the 2016 Emmy Awards clung to summer with floral prints, crisp white shades, and carefree beauty looks. And of course, there were a few stars who stole the spotlight in dramatic, one-of-a-kind styles. Here's a look back at the night's biggest fashion moments. If you ask us, the stylists and designers behind all of these looks deserve an Emmy.

1. Felicity Huffman

Felicity wore a silk-thread embellished dress by Tony Ward. And she didn't need couture to look that ethereal: The piece is part of the designer's Fall/Winter ready-to-wear collection.

2. Giuliana Rancic

Giuliana Rancic looked like a fairytale princess a hand-embroidered gown and cape by Georges Chakra Couture. Before hosting Live From the Red Carpet, she did some leg stretches to help her stand for hours in her glittering Giuseppe Zanotti heels.

3. Emmy Rossum

"It takes a village to get this Emmy to the Emmys," the Shameless actress wrote on Instagram. In a Wes Gordon gown with a plunging neckline, Emmy was one of may stars to boldly embrace white after Labor Day.

4. Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett was glowing in a custom, cape-sleeve, chartreuse gown by Christian Siriano. "So chic!" the newlywed designer commented.

5. Mandy Moore

The sweet singer thanked her team for the "chic, French, '70s, carefree beauty" vibe she exuded in her marigold tiered ruffle gown by Prabal Gurung. The style is part of the designer's Resort 2017 collection.

6. Sarah Hyland

Sarah worked with stylist Brad Goreski to select a flowery style from Monique Lhuillier. The actress's black pants added a fresh element to the look. And—lest you're wondering what kind of manicure pairs with such a dainty pattern—Sarah kept her nails clean and graphic with a single gold stripe on each finger.

7. Kristen Bell

The Good Place star also wore a floral pattern, hitting the red carpet in a dramatic bouffant gown by Zuhair Murad. The romantic style had a plunging neckline that showed, according to the designer, "just the right amount of cleavage a princess would want to show on a red carpet."

8. Sarah Paulson

Sarah was one of many stars to sparkle. She wore a green gown by Prada, and worked with stylist Karla Welch—who also styled Mandy Moore!

9. Padma Lakshmi

The Top Chef host also glittered, wearing a metallic, sterling silver gown from Naeem Khan's Resort 2017 collection. Makeup artist Patrick Ta gave the stunner a hot pink lip.

10. Laverne Cox

Laverne also opted for Naeem Khan. "I felt awesome in the look," the actress commented. And rightfully so!

11. Olivia Culpo

Olivia admits that she "likes to play dress up," and she did that beautifully in a futuristic look by Zac Posen.

12. Kerry Washington

The expecting mother lived up to her style-star reputation in a cut-out gown by Brandon Maxwell.

Check out this close-up shot of her studded mani—which she still has on today.
