You've probably had enough dessert hybrids to last a lifetime and beyond, but before you say "we're done here," check this out. The new Everything Black ice cream sandwich wants your attention, but trust us when we say this is one you won't want to miss.
For one thing, this dessert melds savory and sweet in a particularly original and delicious way—not to mention that for New Yorkers and NYC lovers alike, it joins together two of the city's most iconic snacks.
Available in August at Manhattan's Ice & Vice, the Everything Black ice cream sandwich (pictured above) combines the city's famous black-and-white cookie with the salty-spicy thrills of everything-bagel seasoning (sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, onion, salt). In the middle is Ice and Vice's signature ice cream, called Basic B—a handcrafted, artisanal flavor that melds Mexican vanilla with black lava sea salt ice creams. The Everything Black is a collaboration between the ice cream shop and the iconic Kossar's Bagels & Bialy on Manhattan's Lower East Side, which provides the everything-bagel seasoning and the black and white cookies.

So all of that adds up to one big reason you should get your hands on one of these things: pure pleasure. The other reason? This collaboration is for an excellent cause. All sales (that's 100 percent of profits) go toward raising money and awareness for Edible Schoolyard NYC, the New York branch of the non-profit that the renowned Chez Panisse chef Alice Waters founded in Berkeley in 2010, to teach kids about cooking and gardening and to help set communities on the path to healthy, sustainable living.
The Everything Black, $5, is only on the menu at Ice & Vice and Kossar's now through the end of August. But the rest of the month brings other collaborative mashups worthy of attention.
These are all available only at Kossar's. The week of August 8-14, try Ivan Ramen’s Bialy Bonito Melt, a collaboration with the hot Manhattan ramen shop. The sandwich includes oil- poached tuna, garlic mayo, scallion, melted swiss and bonito furikake, on a Japanese everything everything bialy from Kossar's. August 15-21, it's Fung Tu’s Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Sichuan seasoning, avocado, lettuce, tomato and matchstick potatoes on a Garlic Chive Sesame Pletzel. And the sandwich for the week of August 22-31 can double as dessert: It's foie-gras-doughnut chef Justin Warner’s Foie Gras Cream Cheese & Jelly Sandwich on a salted cinnamon raisin bagel.
