Unequivocally handsome French president Emmanuel Macron has an equally unequivocally handsome presidential pet — a black Labrador-griffon mix named Nemo. Since the First Dog arrived at Elysée Palace back in August, the sweet, wide-eyed pupper has received his fair share of political attention — even famously greeting Niger’s president Mahamadou Issoufou.
But despite his typically “good dog” behavior, the two-year-old rescue has proven that it can be rather difficult to be obedient in every situation. As Macron and three junior ministers had a meeting about inner-city investment, Nemo couldn’t hold his bladder any longer — so he went and peed all over the gilded office’s ornamental fireplace.
Even better? The assembly was being filmed for channel TF1, so the whole thing was caught on video:
In the video, the junior minister for ecology, Brune Poirson, overhears the unmistakable tinkling and laughs, “I wondered what that noise was.” And when junior minister for territorial cohesion Julien Denormandie asks, “Does that happen often?” all Macron can say is, “You have sparked a totally unusual behavior in my dog.”
