More Than Just an Epic Fail, Fyre Festival Is Now Also the Subject of an FBI Investigation

Doesn't it seem like everyone who's anyone is the subject of an FBI investigation these days?

Well, that's probably how organizers of the ill-fated Fyre Festival would like to frame it. To recap, for anyone living in a cave this spring, Fyre was supposed to be an ultra-luxe festival in the Bahamas, Ja Rule's project promoted by such supermodels as Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner — but it crashed and burned in spectacular fashion while the Internet laughed slash cried.

According to The New York Times, organizers of the festival may be in big trouble — and not just on Instagram — as the event is now under criminal investigation.

The United States attorney's office for the Southern District of New York and the FBI, according to a source cited in the report, are "looking into possible mail, wire, and securities fraud."

Of course, there's also the matter of the lawsuits filed by festival goers, the issue of employees who have been notified they won't be paid (or even fired so they can go collect unemployment).

Never mind the fact that headliner Blink-182 (which pulled out before the festival began) still has equipment tied up in "customs limbo," and a restaurant owner from the Bahamas who supplied services is owed $134,000, according to The Times.

So apparently, yes, the aptly named Fyre still rages.
