Emma Roberts made "smoky quartz" hair a thing, and the rock-inspired hair hues are just beginning. Suddenly, the color everyone's talking about is "geode." You know geodes: they're those gorgeous rocks that have sparkling crystals inside. Here's one being used as an air plant holder, but you get the message:
These magical-looking rocks have inspired dye jobs that use iridescent hues to mimic the patterns of crystals found in rocks. Los-Angeles-based stylist Cherin Choi, who's credited with spreading the trend, explained the process to Refinery29.
Cherin lightens her clients' hair to a blondish white before applying amethyst-purple dye onto the middle sections, and adding moonstone blue to the tips. Then, she emulsifies the colors using her hands and a brush. In other words: We should all leave this one to the pros.
