George and Amal Clooney Donated $10K to Help Dogs Saved from a Backyard Breeder

Their generosity is incredible.

Some days it really feels like George Clooney will do anything to stay in the press. First he forwent his famed bachelorhood to marry Amal Alamuddin, an international human rights lawyer. Then he announced that the two of them are expecting twins. And now the pair has donated $10,000 to support a dog rescue that saved a bunch of puppers from a backyard breeder. Geez Clooney, feeling thirsty?

WE ARE KIDDING. We love the Clooneys and their commitment to animal rights! (The couple has their own rescue, a basset hound named Millie, who they adopted from the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society.)

The Clooneys made the generous donation to Camp Cocker Rescue, an L.A.-based non-profit that takes helps dogs in need, even if they will require expensive medical care. The organization recently rescued nine dogs from a backyard breeder—with “medical bills and medical to do list getting longer by the day”—so they were astounded when they discovered they had received a $10,000 donation to the cause.

“Well, you can imagine how blown away we were when we heard that a $10,000 donation was pledged to our doggies,” they posted on the Camp Cocker Rescue Facebook Page. “Our generous donors would feel so good to see their donation doubled by all of you, so for the month of May, every dollar you donate will be matched (up until we reach $10,000).

“After we all did happy dances and cried with happiness for this unbelievable matching donation offer - we then asked the donors if (and only if they gave us their permission) . . . if we could reveal their names to our supporters in order to help us reach our big goal this month…We want to thank George and Amal Clooney for their unbelievable donation and now it's time to turn to all of YOU to see if you can match it!!!!”

If you would like to contribute, you can donate on Camp Cocker Rescue’s donations page.
