Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger Are London-Bound for Their Next Fashion Show
She's a globe-trotter, that Gigi.
Will Gigi Hadid and Tommy Hilfiger's next collab look a little less California preppy, and a little more grunge? That's the vibe we're getting based on yesterday's announcement that Gigi, Insta-Girl extraordinaire, is headed to London for her fall Tommy Hilfiger runway show on September 19th at 7p.m. local time. Tommy and Gigi will take over London’s Roundhouse concert hall, a historic venue that's hosted legendary artists like Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Pink Floyd, and The Doors.
"Our fall collection is inspired by my love of rock and grunge style from the Nineties, and London’s inspiring heritage of fashion and music creates the perfect place to celebrate our next TommyNow show," Tommy told WWD.
This will be the third runway show for the Tommy x Gigi collection, and the third location too. The show started in New York for the fall season of NYFW, then jumped coasts to LA for its spring show. The runway show is already innovative, since it's see-now, buy-now, and everything is for sale immediately following the show (instead of the traditional six months lagtime). But the fact that the runway show is leapfrogging around the world and not beholden to a particular fashion week city is interesting too.
The gauntlet has been set though, because every Tommy x Gigi show up until now has had a megastar in the front row: in New York, it was Taylor Swift, and in LA, it was Lady Gaga. We're guessing Yolanda, Bella, and Anwar will be there in London, but who will that front row guest be? Please say Kate Middleton or Prince Harry. Is that too much to ask?
