Dachshund in a Coordinated Prom Dress is All You Need to Know About Prom 2017

Promposals: out. Dog prom dresses: SUPER IN.

Confession: We don’t remember much about prom, other than our school had a mandatory after-party where all attendees had to go watch Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. (“Most special night of your life,” our asses.) But we do remember that the highlight was modeling our very first formal dress in a pre-prom photo shoot (taken by mom because selfie sticks didn’t exist).

Anyway, enough about the ‘90s. We’re here to talk about 2017, when one ingenious high-schooler in Florida took her pre-prom photo shoot to the next level by including her four-legged friend—for whom she constructed a coordinating prom dress.

The love I have for Sasha is unreal lmao. Made her dress myself bc baby gotta look just as good as momma 😚

18-year-old Brenda Sierra says that her 7-year-old rescue dachshund Sasha is her BFF. “I do everything with her,” Brenda told Buzzfeed News. “Anywhere that a dog is allowed, I bring her.” So when she had extra fabric left over from hemming her dress, she grabbed a hot glue gun and got to work on making a coordinating prom dress just for her Doxie.

As you can see, the dog’s dress is the perfect complement to Brenda’s navy-and-floral number, although Sasha got a very sophisticated off-the-shoulder neckline and matching headband.

It took several fittings to get the dress right—“I had to keep taking it on and off of her,” Brenda said—but the payoff was worth it. Not only did Sasha love the photo shoot, but the pictures have gone totally viral, and now Brenda is using her moment in the spotlight to raise money for her boyfriend’s surgery.
