How Much Makeup Was Victoria Beckham Actually Wearing in This "No Makeup" Look?
The designer has once again stirred up internet controversy.
Victoria Beckham has once again caused a social-media ruckus—but this one centers on lipstick. After posting a mother-daughter selfie that caused a slew of unfavorable comments (that's putting it gently), the designer posted a video on Vogue.com yesterday that promotes her new makeup collection.
To back up, the makeup in question is a 14-piece capsule collection for Estée Lauder. Inspired by the British fashion icon's international travels, the collection contains sets inspired by different cities. For Paris, the look is all about crimson lips and eyes lined in green, with the feline flick, of course. New York leans on statement hues like saffron and cobalt. Victoria—who has her hands full with a thriving career and four kids—wanted to make sure the makeup was easy and quick to use. And so, she released a video on Vogue.com explaining how to use her new products to create a "five-minute Face." (Seeing VB wearing sunglasses in her bathrobe is pretty awesome, we have to say.)
While the makeup tips seem pretty spot-on (shimmery black shadow along the lashes, noted) there was one thing that commenters saw fit to, well, comment on. "She already had on a full brow and all of her base makeup. What the [bleep!] Not helpful whatsoever," said one YouTube commenter, while another noted: "All her makeup was done before she even turned on the camera." And there are several more comments where that came from. Okay, so maybe she'd had a bit of prep before hitting record—this is Vogue, after all. Still, if Victoria's dropping tips on how to get a "quite sexy" London eye, we're listening. The collection will be available on September 13.
