File under: things that will come as a surprise to no one who travels around America.
Insider travel site The Points Guy is out with a ranking of the best and worst airports in the country, and the results are pretty bleak for facilities in one U.S. region in particular. Guessed it already? Yes, it's the New York City area, whose three major airports come in dead last — or more specifically, first on the list of the worst airports in America.
LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark (in New Jersey) in order took the top spots on the "worst list." Criteria for the rankings came from timeliness, accessibility, and amenities. LaGuardia had the highest rate of flight delays and cancellations, the second-longest drive time, and insane parking fees. JFK also has crazy drive times, plus the longest security backups. And Newark just mainly got bad ratings across the board.
But let's leave you with some cheerier data, thanks to The Points Guy's list. Phoenix topped the "best" list, with excellent flight delay and flight cancellation scores, a convenient light rail, free Wi-FI, and good dining options.
Portland and San Diego came in next, in order.
So it's good news for frequent Western U.S. travelers — and a huge bummer for NYC travelers, if not shocking.
