Pippa Middleton’s sister Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, shockingly won’t be maid of honor at her upcoming wedding. Not because Pippa (and her smokin’ bod) stole the show from her older sister on her wedding day in 2011, but because Kate doesn’t want to steal Pippa’s spotlight by standing next to her as a world famous princess.
Pippa, 33, had wowed the crowds outside Westminster Abbey in a white dress that showed off her perfect figure when her sister, 34, got married to Prince William.
Kate won’t be a bridesmaid or maid of honor when Pippa ties the knot with financier James Matthews, 41, in 2017, says royal author Judy Wade.
“Kate would upstage her sister. It’s a tricky situation for Pippa. She would want her sister by her side, as who else would she trust to make things go well?” she told People. “How can you compete with Kate who got married at Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace? This way, Pippa can keep it private and very personal.”
Instead, Kate may do a reading, which the sisters’ brother James did at Kate’s wedding. Her children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, may be a ring bearer and flower girl.
Pippa’s wedding will take place at her village church of St Mark's in Englefield, Berkshire, with the reception parents' back garden. There will be 150 guests. Pippa and James had been dating for less than a year when he proposed during a country walk in July.
