Gwyneth Paltrow has some competition in the spin department.
With “consciously uncoupled” already taken, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have decided to call their split “taking respectful, loving space.” You know, what you wish the impatient person on line behind you would do, or the pole hogger on the subway. Any way you put it, it means this in non-Hollywood lingo: “I don’t want to sleep with you anymore.”
A representative for Katy and Orlando (who is probably resting after coming up with that line for the press) confirmed the split to Us Weekly on Tuesday, but the odd thing was it came just two days just days after the duo made an appearance together at the Vanity Fair Oscars Party on Sunday.
Katy, 32, in a bronze gown and dyed platinum hair and the actor, 40, clad in a tux, didn’t appear to have any hard feelings.
“Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” read the statement.
The two dated for a little over a year, and were first spotted getting flirty at the annual Golden Globes after party in 2016.
Katy and Orlando had been spending time apart recently, with the actor just returning from a UNICEF mission to Diffa, the southeast region of Niger. Katy has been promoting her new single, “Chained to the Rhythm.”
The “respectful, loving space” news came as a shock to fans, since Orlando celebrated Katy’s 32nd birthday with her back in October and the two spent Halloween together.
Just days ago, Orlando posted a picture to Instagram holding Katy’s dog.
But, earlier in the week was spotted at a party at Tao in Los Angeles cozying up to Katy Perry lookalike Erin McCabe, daughter of the Global Green President, Les McCabe.
