Katy Perry is known for many things: an enviable string of No. 1 singles, a benign feud with Taylor Swift that no one really cares about, and the ability to blast whipped cream and fireworks from her bosom, to name but a few. But one lesser-discussed aspect of Katy’s life is her role as a proud dog mom to a teacup poodle named Nugget.
It's time that changed.
You see, as Katy geared up to release her fourth album, Witness (which came out Friday, June 9), she has been suffering more than a bit of media backlash. It’s fine; it happens to every superstar at some point, and it’s not that serious. But what if she could make it all go away? What if she could put an end to the scathing headlines accusing her of cultural appropriation, cringeworthy performances, and questionable jokes about Barack Obama?
“Is that even possible? How could she manage that?” we hear you asking. The answer to the first question is “yes,” and the answer to the second is “Nugget.”
What better way to change the conversation than by putting a new face in front of the era? A face as universally lovable as Nugget’s is the perfect one for the job. The masses may not be rushing to buy “Bon Appetit” or “Swish Swish,” but they'd likely be willing to give Nugget-approved remixes “Bone Ample Treats“ and “Leash Leash” a spin on Spotify. The antidote to an upsetting music video of Katy getting cooked and served is, obviously, a video of Nugget stopping by Jess Rona’s famed grooming studio. Furthermore, we know Nugget has what it takes to handle the rigorous PR duties involved, as she’s previously helped Katy stump for Hillary Clinton, starred in her own ad campaigns, and been featured in thinly-veiled promo videos for Katy’s recent singles. Let the following serve as her resume. Then Katy’s real purposeful pup era can begin.
