When Kerry Washington commits to a style, she goes all the way. So, when the Scandal star opted to wear Mugler's sharply tailored, futuristic dress to the 2017 FGI Night of Stars Modern Voices Gala, she let her hairstylist design an edgy new look to match. Way to think beyond the blow-out, Kerry!
The actress works with stylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew, who took to Instagram to showcase her famous client with the caption "bae."
And if you're interested in creating your own bae style, Sturdivant-Drew has you covered. The hair guru offered a step-by-step guide to how she created the look, and pointed to Washington's sparkling frock as her initial inspiration.
"When I saw the style of the dress I knew I wanted to give her a short blunt haircut," the stylist wrote on Instagram. "I used at TSD Hair Extensions straight hair to create this hairstyle. First, I started to cut her hair with my scissors at the nape and worked my way to the sides to give her a sharp blunt cut. Then I cut the front into bangs. I finished off the look by taking my flat iron and smoothing out her hair into a sleek, chic, bob. Finally, I clipped in two colored pieces on each side to add some dimension to her hair; then finished it off with a light spray."
Since Sturdivant-Drew mentioned scissors and cuts a couple of times, it sounds like Washington's new 'do is the real, permanent deal. But, we've been fooled by faux bangs before. So, we'll just have to wait and see what style the actress steps out in next.
