The batch-size cocktails at New York City’s Holiday Cocktail Lounge—a classic East Village dive that was reborn last year with a (slightly) spruced-up look—include this glorious Manhattan Service. For $50, an entire bottle of double rye whiskey arrives at your table with accompanying sides of sweet vermouth and cocktail sauce (a mix of simple syrup with bitters). It's designed to serve four or more, and the best part is, you can custom-design it to your liking. The second-best part? Those little plastic monkeys hanging off the side.
1920 Cocktail at Rose. Rabbit. Lie., The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas
The intriguingly named supper club Rose. Rabbit. Lie. in Las Vegas definitely knows how to get the party started. Besides its frequent live music shows and performances, the bar offers surprising twists on familiar dishes (think short rib stroganoff) and OTT drinks like the 1920 Cocktail. The colossal bottle of hooch ($35) is filled with a mix of rye whisky, Italian sweet red wine, dry vermouth and orange bitters—and it can serve up to four.
Octopus’ Garden at The Dawson, Chicago
The Dawson in Chicago doesn't hold back when it comes to its oversized cocktails. The Octopus’ Garden ($200), designed for parties of six or more, blends rum and cognac, strawberries, lime, grapefruit, citrus peel, vanilla and garden herbs in an octopus-inspired container complete with metal arms.
Grapefruit Presse at Provision No. 14, Washington, D.C.
From small plates of modern American cuisine to communal cocktails, it’s all about sharing at the bustling Provision 14 in D.C. The imaginative drinks include the Grapefruit Presse for four ($42), which is certainly one of the most ingenious uses we've seen for a French press coffee-maker. The tasty mix of vodka, freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice, muddled fresh mint and muddled fresh basil only gets more flavorful the longer it sits, but we challenge you not to attack it immediately.
Madison Park Smash at The Nomad Bar, New York City
The Nomad Bar in New York City serves expertly crafted cocktails, not least of which is the Madison Park Smash. At $112, it's enough for eight and features caramel-flavored demerara syrup, lemon juice, cognac, mint and a rich liqueur made of triple sec, cognac and Elixir de Combier, all served in oversized glass cocktail vessel. Fill a rocks glass with crushed ice, dispense the boozy concoction from the spigot, and your work is done.
Absolut Baller at E.P. + L.P., Los Angeles
From Al Pacino to Matt Damon to Liam Hemsworth, Los Angeles scenesters hit E.P. + L.P. for a standout Southeast Asian dinner. But killer drinks like the massive Absolut Baller for eight ($250) are a reason to stick around well after the plates are cleared. Top-shelf vodka sets the stage for the luxe drink, which also includes sherry wine, housemade syrup made with pandan leaves, concentrated bitters, orange bitters and a fruity mix of banana liqueur plus fresh-pressed orange and pineapple. The best place to enjoy it is on the second-floor rooftop patio, with its sweeping view of the Hollywood Hills.
