Gilmore Girls super-fans are already counting down the days to the show's much-anticipated November return, but now there's something even more immediate to look forward to: a real-life Luke’s Diner.
Netflix, which will launch the Gilmore Girls reboot next month, is sponsoring 250 pop-up Luke’s Diner locations around the country on October 5, the 16th anniversary of the show's original premiere. There’ll be at least one in every state (plus Canada), and locations can be found on the promotional town of Stars Hollow's website.
Stop by any of the pop-ups from 7 am until noon on that day for a free cup of coffee along with all sorts of Luke’s Diner-esque promo materials, from aprons to branded t-shirts.
ICYMI: Luke’s Diner was a central part of Gilmore Girls, with most episodes involving Lorelai and Rory meeting up to eat there, or picking up takeout, or satiate their series-long caffeine addiction.
Pop-up spots inspired by TV nostalgia are a trend of late, from the Saved by the Bell restaurant to the Golden Girls themed café to the 2014 Central Perk pop-up for fans of Friends. We can’t help but wonder what’s next. Maybe a nightclub themed after 90210’s Peach Pit or Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s The Bronze? Bring it on.
