Well, at least he’ll be excited she’s heard of him.
A man who believes he’s been dating Katy Perry for the last six years was being catfished by a woman pretending to be Katy Perry. (Keeping up?)
Then, the above became a Catfish episode, where Katy’s wannabe boyfriend was informed that he had actually been communicating with a woman named Heather who lives in England.
Now the real Katy Perry has caught wind of the whole twisted situation and said she finds it to be “very sad.”
Katy appeared on Sirius XM's Morning Mashup on Thursday, where the hosts asked her if she had seen the Catfish episode, where “Spencer from Tennessee” was convinced he and Perry were in love.
"Yes, somebody sent me a link," she said. "I didn't actually read through it, because I just think it's really unfortunate and very sad."
When Katy was told that Spencer even made her an engagement ring using his great-grandmother's emerald, she said he wasn't "wide awake."
"Yeah, you know, not everyone can be, but I think that, you know, my heart goes out to him, actually," she said, "because anybody that's been fooled like that or just you know… People have dreams, and people live in different parts of the world where not everything is as accessible.
“Like, we live on the coast, and you know, we get stuff in a way that some other people don't get, and so I feel bad for him. And so I didn't really like to indulge in that, because my heart would die.”
Or because this guy’s bananas.
