As if Mark Wahlberg doesn't have enough going for him—successful actor and producer, one-time leader of the Funky Bunch, underwear model with the best abs ever—it also turns out he kicks butt in the restaurant franchise business. The company just announced that, through several new franchise deals, it'll be opening 30 new locations of his Wahlburgers burger joint in major markets from Cleveland to Detroit to Los Angeles and expects to have a whopping 118 shops open within the next several years.
Wahlberg launched Wahlburgers back in 2011—with his two brothers, chef Paul and actor/New Kid Donnie—as an artisan burger shop in the Boston suburb of Hingham, Massachusetts, not far from their hometown of Dorchester. The place took off (with a little help from their reality show) and quickly expanded to six stores on the East Coast and one in Toronto. Now that the chain is set to grow at warp-speed, it's good times for the Walhberg boys, for sure. Maybe Walhberg should start a consulting business for celebrities aspiring to own restaurants, since—as we've seen again and again—the job isn't nearly as easy as it might look.
