It’s Marryoke, if you're not familiar with the term. It took the world by storm in 2014, and it's back, like it or not. Take Karaoke, two people getting married, a videographer, and everyone's in trouble.
But at least it doesn't result in a boring three-hour long wedding video of your big day that everyone has to sit through-it's now a music video instead.
One couple, Rebecca and Matt, who married at The Carriage Rooms at Montalto in Northern Ireland did just that, and the video is getting attention for their lip synching skills to Bonnie Tyler’s Holding Out For a Hero.
“Rebecca and Matt got married yesterday (yes, yesterday!) and we are still BUZZING! What an amazing couple, venue thanks The Carriage Rooms at Montalto and talented guests—they're our new heroes,” the couple captioned the video.
The duo enlisted the help of the wedding party and guests for the video, who had to learn the lyrics to the Footloose jam for the ceremony.
The final result is like an extended music video, hopefully featuring every guest at the wedding. Real wedding footage is included, along with the couple singing. The wedding ceremony and the reception are also included.
Marryoke creator Billy May has said that with weddings becoming so competitive, people are looking for originality. They also want to put their big day on YouTube and they don’t want it to be boring.
In March of this year, another couple, Michael and Michelle, also from Northern Ireland, make a marryoke video to the tune of Whitney Houston’s I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
