Michelle Obama Takes Bo and Sunny on One Last Walk Through the White House

The dogs’ final lap will bring tears to your eyes.

No matter your politics, we can all agree: The Obamas had some awesome dogs.

Bo the Portuguese Water Dog—a gift from Senator Kennedy—joined the First Family in the White House in 2009, and the Obamas added a second Portuguese Water Dog named Sunny in 2013. During a press conference, Obama was asked if dogs would be allowed in the Oval Office. His response? “Of course. If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.”

The Obamas had originally planned to adopt a rescue dog, but ultimately wound up with the Portuguese Water Dogs because their hypoallergenic coats were safer for their daughter Malia’s allergies. However, the Obamas did make generous donations to The Humane Society in Bo and Sunny’s names.

Michelle Obama shared this video of her taking one final walk with the pups through the White House. We dare you to not get emotional.
