Miranda Lambert Helps Rescue 72 Dogs from Harvey—And She’s Going Back for More

They won't rest until all the furry refugees are rescued!

Once upon a time, we told you all about how we are obsessed with Miranda Lambert. It’s not just that she can command our tears with a single guitar strum of “Runnin’ Just in Case”; she can also get us into a full-on ugly cry when we read about her dedication to animals.

If you weren’t already aware, Miranda founded a non-profit animal rescue called the MuttNation Foundation back in 2009. The diehard animal lover (she has seven rescue dogs, four rescue cats, five rescue horses, and two rescue mini horses of her own) focuses the bulk of her spare time working with the donation-backed organization. Its mission? End animal cruelty, neglect, and homelessness, while supporting other organizations that build animal shelters, and fund spay/neuter programs (among too many other purposes to name!).

So it’s only natural that the Texas-born country superstar put everything on hold to mobilize a group of vehicles to help rescue dogs from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. In just one day, MuttNation Foundation rescued a whopping 72 dogs—and after transferring them to a sister rescue in Oklahoma, the fleet is headed back to Houston for round two.

We're starting Day #3 in Houston!! Good morning from @mirandalambert and the pups!! 🐶💗🐶💗
