As exhilarating as the finish line can be, marathons can be long and tedious. After all, that's 26.2 miles of slogging along, step after excruciating step.
Well, one guy decided to amp up the excitement factor: He ran the entire 37th Dublin Marathon wearing a soaring, 10-foot-tall Eiffel Tower costume. Sure, he might have handicapped himself but he also won at life... and showed some serious French pride as well as audacity.
Local outlet Irish Times identified the athlete as a Paris-based Michel Bach, who is 70 years old.
Naturally, his epic run elicited much applause, support, and amusement throughout the route.
He wore his marathon numbers emblazoned on the front of his costume.
Perhaps the tower, when angled forward, actually gave the runner an aerodynamic boost?
Yeah, probably not. But it was just an awesome thing to do. Tip of the tower-shaped hat to that dude.
By the way? Of course this magnificent monument made it to the finish line... and celebrated in a way befitting our hero.
