Erstwhile teenage doctor and all-around amazing person Neil Patrick Harris (and his equally outstanding actor-chef husband David Burtka) have adopted an adorable rescue dog, and we couldn’t be happier for all parties involved.
Meet Gidget. Burtka shared this sweet Instagram photo collage of their new addition, posing joyfully with the couple’s twins Harper and Gideon, and NPH himself.
The couple adopted her from the North Shore Animal League America (one of the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organizations), but she originally came by way of Project Street Dog Thailand.
“There’s a landfill that has thousands of dogs in it, and they have nowhere to go. Many are injured,” Cindy Szczuido, Senior Manager of Rescue Services at North Shore, told Cuteness. “We’ve rescued 30 since May.”
The rescue was recommended by Beth Stern, who works closely with North Shore and is a passionate animal advocate. (Her Instagram features dozens of fosters up for adoption.)
Congratulations to the Harris-Burtka family, and congratulations to Gidget on snagging such a loving, amazing forever home! #adoptdontshop #getyourrescueon
