Adele sang it best, “Never mind, I’ll find someone like you…”
Now you can do exactly that: find someone to date, just like Adele, or Beyoncé, or Kim Kardashian. Truth be told: your potential significant other might not have the fame or fortune of these power women. But, at the very least, they will share a physical resemblance.
Badoo, a dating app that currently has more than 350 million users, just launched a technology (appropriately) called Badoo Lookalikes. After doing a quick search of stars’ names, the service instantly pairs singles with other datable guys and gals who look like thousands of admired musicians, actors, reality stars and more. (Or think they do.)
“Everyone has their own type, and it’s easy to refer to your favorite celebs to describe what your preference in looks are,” says Badoo CEO Andrey Andreev. “In my opinion, it’s more about finding someone with similar attributes as opposed to finding an exact lookalike.”
Entourage and paparazzi, step aside. The Badoo Lookalikes feature isn’t limited to famous faces. Users can search people who resemble individuals in their day-to-day lives.
Have a crush on your married boss? Adore your best friend? Miss your first kiss? Yes, you can now connect with their 2.0 version (that, well, isn’t quite them).
“Originally, we were using similar technology to moderate photos of users. From there, we had the idea to create Badoo Lookalikes, repurposing the technology to find you the perfect celeb lookalike match. But the technology isn’t just for looking for celeb lookalikes,” says Andreev. You can find any person’s lookalike, whether a first love or a teenage crush. The app helps you find your perfect ‘type’ in a fun and engaging way.”
Facial recognition technology allows users to search Facebook friends and gives the opportunity for participants to upload their own photos. Badoo uses that info and searches its database of profiles. Like similar dating apps, the individuals can review matches before striking up a conversation.
While Americans and Canadians might have a thing for Justin Bieber, other countries residents could very likely prefer a different aesthetic.
“Different cultures have different standards of beauty,” says Andreev. “Some top searches make me say 'who?' I also think users are interested in seeing how accurate the technology is and search the first person that comes to mind."
Regardless if you live in Florida or Florence, Italy, here are the top searches for famous faces for men, women, and globally:
Top searches for female celebrity Badoo lookalikes globally are Kim Kardashian, Emma Stone, Beyoncé, Selena Gomez, Caroline Receveur, Laetitia Casta, Kylie Jenner, Jessica Alba, and Marion Cotillard.
For males, it's Barack Obama, Kevin Durant, Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Justin Bieber, Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, Anwar Hadid, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
